Hughes, of Lexington, announce the engagement of their daughter, Martha Rebecca, to James Taylor Woodhouse, of Raeford. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James H. Woodhouse, of Wilson. The wedding will be September 1 at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church in High Point. Ashley McDuffie Baby contest winner named The members of Spring Hill Baptist Church sponsored a baby contest recently. A total of five babies were in the contest. Chosen as the winning baby was Ashely McDuffie, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Berkley McDuffie. Wenlworth - Allen Mr. and Mrs. Robert Went worth of Brunswick, Georgia an nounce the engagement of their daughter, Pamela Kay, to David Randall Allen, of Charleston, South Carolina, son of Mr. and Mrs. Eddie H. Allen and grandson of Esther Teal, all of Raeford. The bride-elect is a 1978 graduate of Glynn Academy in Brunswick and a former student at Brunswick Junior College. She is presently employed as a depart ment manager. ?Allen is a 1978 graduate of Hoke County High School and a 1982 graduate of Pembroke State University. He is currently assign ed as Quartermaster/Navigator on board the U.S. Coast Guard Cut ter PA WPA W, based in Charleston. A wedding for September IS has been planned. The ceremony will be performed on the grounds of Epworth-By-The-Sea United Methodist Retreat on St. Simon's Island, Georgia. Friends and relatives are invited to attend. Personals Barry Ellis visited this weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Ellis and family, enroute from New Jersey to Austin, Texas where he is now employed with the Rouse Co. at Northcross Mall. Mrs. Zedell Barker of 113 Wright Street was crowned queen of the Pentacostal Temple Church of God in Christ recently. The church is in the Jones Hill section of Raeford and serving as Pastor is Elder B. Gastin. Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Lentz and children visited with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Picklesimer of Lexington, Kentucky. Other guests included Miss Rita Picklesimer of Atlanta, Georgia, Mr. and Mrs. Norman Picklesimer of Georgetown, Kentucky and Mr. and Mrs. Mickael Kopferl of Schafhach, Germany. Elizabeth Parker McPherson Engagement Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Rich mond McPherson of Yanceyville, announce the engagement of their daughter, Elizabeth Parker McPherson, to Michael James Mollica, son of Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas Anthony Mollica of Ben nington, Vermont. The bride-elect is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Davis Kirkland Parker of Raeford. Miss McPherson is a graduate of N.C. State University where she received a B.E.D. in Visual Design. Mr. Mollica graduated from the University of Vermont with a B.S. in Parks and Recreation. He also attended N.C. State University where he earned a masters degree in Landscape Architecture. The Reverend Leonard Doucette of ficiated at the double ring ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Oleta K. Lopez of Raeford and Mack L. Freeze of New Bern. She graduated from Hoke County High School in 1982 and from Peace College in 1984. She is employed by First Citizens Bank in New Bern. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Dorris B. Collins of Pollocksville. He graduated from Jones Sr. High School in 1977 and from Lenoir Community College in 1981. He is employeed by the Naval Air Rework Facility [NARF], Cherry Point. Wedding music was provided by Ms. Jenni Vance. The bride, given in marriage by her father, Mack L. Freeze, wore a long gown of white tafetta. It had a sweetheart neckline accented with tucking which extended to bodice and full sleeves. The sleeves and skirt were trimmed with Cluny lace. The skirt ended in a chapel length train. The skirt draped over double tiers of Cluny lace accented with self-fabric, roses and sateen. Her veil illusion was trimmed with white silk flowers and was held by a halo. She carried a bouquet of red sweetheart roses, white miniature carnations and baby's breath. The maid of honor was Melodie Ann Hopkins of Knightdale. She wore a long gown of deep pink tafetta with full sleeves and long skirt. She carried a nosegay of pink sweetheart roses, miniature carna tions and baby's breath. Bridesmaids were: Lisa Freeze Jones of Wanchese, Amy Freeze Leroux of Watertown, New York, Jodi Lynn Freeze of New Bern, sisters of the bride and Laura Lynn Williams of Shelby. They wore gowns like the honor attendant in matching light pink. They carried a nosegay of pink sweetheart roses, miniature carnations and baby's breath. The best man was Dorris B. Col lins, Pollocksville, father of the groom. Mrs. Jay Addison Collins Ushers were: Kenneth Collins of New Bern, brother of the groom, Henry Gouty of Trenton, Billy Macintosh of Trenton, and Jeffery Mallard of Pollocksville. The groom wore a grey tuxedo with pink rose boutonnieres. The best man and ushers wore grey tuxedos with pink sweetheart boutonnieres. Other members of the wedding party were the flower girl, Rebecca Ann Leroux the bride's niece and ring bearer, William Bynum III, the grooms nephew. The bride's mother wore an egg shell crepe dress with a square neck collar and cuffs of leaf and flower appliques on English net. The wedding reception was held on Aug. 4 in the Sidestreet Restaurant in the historic section of Raleigh. It was hosted by Mack L. Freeze and Bee Mayo. It was hosted by the groom's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dorris B. Collins for members of the wedding party and out of town guests. After a wedding trip to Charleston, South Carolina the couple will live at 1727-A Elmwood Street, New Bern. Mrs. Warner Mrs. Jimmie Warner entertained members of her bridge club and three guests on Thursday night. Dessert was served when guests arrived and candy, nuts and soft drinks were served during progres sions. Mrs. David Scott Currie won the visitor's high score prize. Mrs. Avery Connell gained the club's high score and Mrs. Jenny Carrol won the consolation prize for the evening. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph William Mosso, of Raeford announce the birth of a daughter, Stephanie Lovell, on August 5.
