The Rev. Fred A. Hill officiated. Miss Bailey is the daughter of Mrs. Katheryn Bailey and the late Thomas E. Bailey. She is a graduate of Guilford College and works for Integon Corporation. Connell is the son of Mrs. Amanda Lou Connell and the late Charlie Connell. He is a Hoke native and he works in the Avery Connell Agency. The church was decorated with palms, candles in spiral holders, and an arrangement of pixie carna tions and mixed flowers. Mrs. Ralph Conrad, organist, provided traditional wedding music and Steven Dunn, soloist, sang "If" and "Wedding Prayer." Steve Bailey of Signal Moun tain, Tenn. escorted his sister to the altar. She wore a gown of ivory satin brocade. The scooped neckline, hemline and sleeves had ruffles; the waistline was accented by a satin sash. The skirt swept in to a chapel train. Ivory lace trim med the fitted bodice. The hat and train were made of the same lace. The bride's dress hat was created by her mother. She carried roses and pixie apricot and white carna tions. Mrs. Karon Money of Dan bury, N.C. was her sister's matron of honor. She wore a dress of apricot chiffon which featured a scooped and ruffled neckline, capped sleeves, and a full, scalloped skirt. She carried three long-stemmed sonja roses. Bridesmaids were nieces of the groom, Misses Sharon, Dana and Paula Connell of Raeford. They were dressed like the honor atten dant and carried one long stemmed sonja rose. John McDiarmid of Raeford was best man. The groomsmen were Val Spera of Sophia, N.C. and Richard Spera of Monks Cor ner, S.C., nephews of the groom, and James Johnson of Raeford. They wore black tuxedos with apricot ties and cumber bunds. The wedding party also included Miss Rebecca Yarborough, flower girl, Miss Kimberly Spera, miniature bridesmaid, Aaron Spera, ringbearer, and Nicholas Yarborough, miniature grooms man. Mrs. William Thomas ConneU The reception which followed in the fellowship hall of the church was hosted by Audrey Ward and Dell Johnson. Mrs. Libby Bailey kept the guest register. Honor guests were the bride's grand parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert A. Longshore of LaGrange, Fla. After a wedding trip to Orlando, Fla., the Connells will make their home at 209 Patterson Street in Raeford. McEachern Mill Prong topic "This area is very rich in un discovered . history" was the message of Judge Henry A. McKinnon Jr. to Mill Prong Preservation, Inc. The members. of the Preserva tion and interested 'friepds met for the annual lunch and^Jearoing , -metrn? sriffifttrnr aSmst Presbyterian Church on Sunday^ President Hector McLean presided at the afternoon meeting in the sanctuary. He introduced Judge McKinnon as one of the "judge dynasty of McDonald" and as a learned local historian. Judge McKinnon's talk was on Archibald McEachern, a settler in the area now Robeson and Hoke counties. The Mill Prong Group is familiar with many McEacherns, but this man was a pre-Revolution Scotsman who owned land, served as a Loyalist, and now has no descendants in this area. The research which Judge McKinnon had done began with ^ his interest ^n' originaHarBt, possession. TheTasfBiTs of tfrfor mation he has gathered came as he researched the original owners of the Antioch property in prepara tion for his talk. Bill McLean gave background on the Mill Prong house and the organization which is preserving fc. The home was built by the Gilchrist family and had been own ed by the McEachern family for over 140 years. The home and four acres were given to the Preserva tion in memory of Mr. Richard Bullock of Red Springs, a McEachern descendent. The Mill Prong Preservation, Inc. is now in the process of trying , to raise matching funds/'for a rtflHSd to match if by July^f^^* President McLean asked for sug gestions for raising approximately $20,000. The meeting was adjourned -so that everyone could go to the pro perty w hpus$ j? on the old Fayctteville-Camden Stage Road and is part of an interesting, historic path across southern Hoke County. Raeford Presbyterian to hold renewal- services Oct. 11-14 Four nights of faith renewal are planned for the Raeford Presbyterian Church October 11-14, and lay ministers from four states are expected to attend the "Celebration of Life" services. The lay renewal will be led by Dr. Myers Hicks and his wife Edith Hicks of Florence, South Carolina. Other lay assistants are expected to attend from North and South Carolina, Georgia and Florida. The program will begin with 12 "Cottage Prayer Meetings" to be held in homes around Raeford on Sunday, October 7. Church members and guests will be divided into the different small groups for these small services. On Thursday, October 11, a covered dish supper will be held at the church at 6 p.m. and services will follow. "Glow Sections" will be con ducted each night after the ser vices. Mr. and Mrs. Kermit Wood, Jr. of Raeford announce the engage ment of their daughter, Pamela Gale Wood to Ronald Alan Whitehead, son of Mr. and Mrs. Norman Whitehead of Grants Pass, Oregon. A November 24 wedding is plan ned at Raeford First Baptist Church. Dr. Myers H. Hicks Dr . Hicks is a elder in the church and a member of the General Assembly. He serves on the Per sonnel Committee of the Division of International Missions. He also served on a short-term mission to Zaire. Hicks is a graduate of the University of Virgina Medical School and is an internal medicine Edith Hicks specialist at Florence Hospital. He is a veteran of World War II. Edith Hicks is the president of the Women of the Church and is a graduate of Converse College. The Hicks have six children and 11 grandchildren. Lay Renewal services will con clude on Sunday October 14 after the morning worship. Couple is honored at supper Sept. 29 A buffet supper at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Williamson on September 29 honored Miss Sabrina Livingston and Richard Warner. Miss Livingston and Mr. Warner are to be married on Oc tober 13.
