Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Robert Wood on their 29th Wedding Anniversary. ? * ? Mrs. Robert Daniels has made a favorable recovery from injuries received in an ambulance accident she and Mr. Daniels were in several weeks ago. Mr. Daniels is still in critical condition. ? ? ? The Lady's Auxiliary of the Stoney Point Fire Department are having their Annual Halloween Party for the children of the com munity Saturday, October 20th from 6 p.m. til 8 p.m. They are also having a Christmas Bazaar Saturday, November 3rd from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Various craft and Christmas items will be for sale. Everyone is urged to go out and support the Fire Department. ? ? ? Mrs. Alton McCulloch was on the sick list last week but is feeling much better at this report. ? ? ? Mrs. Lawrence Barnard and her sister, Mrs. Gordon Barnard join ed a tour group in Cheraw, South Carolina for a trip to New Orleans and the World's Fair. It was a very enjoyable trip. * ? * Joe Stevens is still a patient at Cape Fear Rehabilitation Center in Fayetteville and appreciates and enjoys visits from friends. His con dition is much improved. Music Booster Association meetings will be first Monday night of every month at Hoke High School band room at 7 p.m. Parents and friends of the music association are urged to attend. AIRPORT AUTHORITY -The Hoke/Raeford Airport Authority will hold its regular meeting at the Raeford City Hall on the second Tharfday of AMERICAN LEGION -American Legion Post 20 of Hoke County meets the second Tuesday of each mohth at the Edinborough Restaurant at 8 p.m. Those interested in join ing are invited. COUNTY COMMISSION ?Members of the Hoke County Commission meet the first Monday of each month at 9 a.m. and the third Monday at 7:30 p.m. Pratt Building located at 227 N. Main St. in Raeford. Terry Fonville of EDS Corporation will be present to discuss, and answer questions about, the state's Health Benefit Plan. All members are urged to attend. Oct. TMs Weekend Oct. 20 BAND CONTEST - Hoke County High School band will be competing in the 7th Annual Invitational Band Contest at 71st High School in FayetteviUe on Saturday, Oct. 20 at 4 p.m. The event will last 4 to 6 hours, depending on number of bands to enter. Admission is S2 with children under 12 free. Parking is free. Trophies will be award ed at the end of the event. Oct. 20 CONCERT - On Saturday night, October 20, the Francis Purcell's Voices of Consolation and Monque Purcell of Greensboro, will be in concert at St. James Church here in Raeford at 7:30 p.m. Everyone is invited to come and enjoy this concert. Oct. 20 KOMFORT KOACH - A large number of entries is also an ticipated for the Komfort Koach 200-mile Late Model Sportsman event scheduled as the first part of the racing double-header at 2 p.m. Satur day, Oct. 20. The day's ac tivities will begin with Sunday School at 9:43 a.m. Chaplain Walter Howell, a Raeford native now serving as chaplain in the Veterans' Hospital in Columbia, S.C., will be speak ing at the II a.m. Worship Ser vice.
