Two Raeford residents were among the 150 mothers who took part in Mother-Daughter Weekend at Peace College on Nov. 9 and 10. They were Mrs. Janice Brock of S. Magnolia Street, mother of Peace freshman Leigh Brock; and Mrs. Marilyn Fowler of Harris Avenue, mother of Peace freshman Carmen Fowler. Friday evening activities includ ed a reception and a special show ing of "The Diary of Anne Frank" by Peace College theater students. On Saturday, the mothers and daughters attended a fashion show, a performance by the Peace Pacers Dance Troupe and a brunch. They also heard a presen tation on the image of the profes sional woman today. Most of the mothers stayed overnight with their daughters in the dormitory. Crismons are Christian sym bols. As tree ornaments, they bring attention to the religious significance of the holidays. The Jordan home was built six teen years ago. Its furnishings are traditional and Country English. The love of home has created needlework " touches. The piano bench cover and the dining room chairs are the needlepoint creations of the late Dr. Julius Jordan. Pain tings by Anna, Kelly and their brother, Franklin, are hanging throughout the house. The sunporch, a solarium in the winter and a living and dining area in the summer, is a nice feature of this house. Tourgoers will see family portraits and photographs. Members of the Junior Women's Club invite everyone to come to the Civic Center for a ticket. The first 100 persons to buy a ticket will receive a complimen tary gift from Faberge. The cost is $5.00. Proceeds of the Tour will -J EwfiLnrfUTTtS of the Club during the coming year. This means that community as the Club responds to Hoke County needs. ? At the Civic Center, tourgoers will find refreshments and a fine display of men and women demonstrating and selling their crafts. Rosland Farms of Godwin will have a selection of the herbs, spices, and flowers, grown and dried by the Tippett family. The aromas and flowers they preserve will make fine gifts and enhance Christmas around Raeford. A substitution in the plans for crafters has opened a spot for Merry Ann Harrison, a potter from Fayetteville. She is the owner of Pandamonium Pottery and she recently had a beautiful booth at the Holly Day Fair. She sells func tional dishwasher and microwave safe ware. She creates handbuilt and wheel-thrown pottery. Bridal showers honor Crowder Miss Lisa Crowder was honored with a bridal shower on November 9. The hostesses were Mrs. Mary Brady, Mrs. Joan Scarboro, Mrs. Lula Davis, and Mrs. Nancy Payne. Arrangements of fall flowers decorated the refreshment and gift tables. Guests were served cake squares, nuts and mints, and punch. Miss Crowder opened gifts from the guests. On November 13 Miss Crowder was honoree at a luncheon - shower hosted by her co-workers at Cameron Morrison Youth Center. The party was held at Christopher's Restaurant in Aber deen. The guest brought gifts and Miss Crowder was given a red and white carnation corsage. Similar flowers were used on the table. Miss Crowder was also honored with a miscellaneous bridal shower on November 17 at the home of Mrs. Janice Campbell in Pinebluff. . Other hostesses were Miss Amy Hemmens and Mrs. Paula Reynolds. A corsage of white rose busds was presented to the honoree. Refreshments of bridal cake, finger sandwiches, nuts, mints and punch were served. The table was centered with an arrangement of flowers. Special guest was Mrs. Debbie Matherly of Green Bay, Wiscon sin. Miss Crowder was also honored with a coke party on November 24 by Suzanne Ramsey and Marsha Hendrix at the Ramsey home on Jackson Street. Miss Crowder was presented a silk Christmas corsage. Guests were served cheese bisquits, sausage balls, ham biscuits, donuts, Coke and hot apple drink. The honoree was presented a Christmas grapevine wreath and many tree ornaments by the hostesses. On Saturday afternoon, November 24, Mrs. Katie Margaret Childress, Mrs. Cindy Sudia and Mrs. Deborah Duncan honored Miss Crowder with a drop-in at the Childress home. A corsage of yellow daisies was presented to the honoree. The refreshment table was centered with a pineapple arrangement. Fruit cake, finger sandwiches, roasted pecans, and hot apple cider were served.
