Homan, son of 'Walter M. and Mary E. Homan of .N. 94th Street, Milwaukee, has been awarded silver wings following graduation from U.S. Air Force navigator training at Mather Air Force Base, California. His wife, Susan, is the daughter of Arnold and Nina Cooper of Rural Route 1, Aberdeen. He is a 1983 graduate of Camp bell University, Buies Creek. Miller graduates Airman 1st Class Carlos M. Miller, son of Carlos E. and Joyce G. Miller of Rural Route 1, Red Springs, has graduated from the U.S. Air Force administrative specialist course at Keesler Air Force Base, Mississippi. Graduates of the six-week course learned how to prepare Air Force correspondence and reports, and earned credits toward an associate degree in applied science through the Community College of the Air Force. Miller is scheduled to serve with the Air Force Office of Special In vestigations at Boiling Air Force Base, Washington. He is a 1982 graduate of East Carolina University, Greenville. Jacobs finishes ? t HirjHH Iinwmmft . -Army Pvt. Diedra Jacobs, daughter of Doris Locklear of Rural Route 1, Red Springs, has completed basic training at Fort Dix, New Jersey. During the training, students received instruction in drill and ceremonies, weapons, map reading, tactics, military courtesy, military justice, first aid, and Ar my history and traditions. She is a 1984 graduate of Hoke High School. Barefoot joins NG David Barefoot, of Raeford, was enlisted in the North Carolina National Guard on October 12. David is a Junior at Hoke High School. He will attend basic training this summer, between school terms, and after he graduates in 1985, he will Finish his training. David is a member of the Hoke High School Jr. ROTC Program. David will be joining the scout section of the 2nd Battalion, 252 Armor. He received a $4, (XX) Educa tional Assistance Bonus, and will receive a $500 per year grant for up to four years of college as well. NC Natural Gas earnings rise Earning of $2.89 per share for fiscal 1984 were reported recently by North Carolina Natural Gas Corporation. Net income amounted to $4,941,000. Thiis compares with last year's restated net income of $2,786,000, or a $1.63 per share. The 1984 earnings were adjusted by $591 ,000 after taxes, or $.35 per share 10 reflect a write-down of the company's investment in explora tion activities. According to Frank Barragan Jr., Company President, this year's higher earnings can be at tributed to a general rate increase in December of 1983, a significant increase in sales volume to high priority customers, the improved economy and colder than normal weather. At one time or another, beavers have probably changed almost every watershed on North America. For example, a 1960 ex cavation down to bedrock revealed the area now called Boston Com mon was created by busy beavers.
