School News Christmas Chorus The South Hoke fourth-grade chorus will perform in the annual Christmas program Thursday, December llth, at 1:15 p.m. in the gymnasium. The program will include, traditional Christmas music performed by the chorus and other students under the direction of Mrs. Miriam McNeill. South Hoke principal is Hank Richards. The public is invited. ? Hoke High chorus , chorale readying for Yule concert The Hoke County High Chorus and Chorale Christmas Concert this Thursday is just around the corner. This year's theme is "Home for the Holidays." Featured are many beloved and well-known Christmas Carols. Following a candlelight proces sional, the Chorus and chortle will present a selection of Christmas favorites including "O Holy Night" and "O Tannenbaum." Arnold Miller will narrate this selection. Other carols included in the con cert are "The Little Drummer Boy," "The Christmas Song," "I'll Be Home for Christmas" and many more. Also featured in concert will be the Hoke High Barbershop mod Beautyshop angers as well as soloists Kevin Locklear, Jeanette B rale her, Sammy Semen, Arnold Miller and Ronnie Haynes. The Chorus and Chorale win be accompanied by Mr. Panl Long of Southern Pines. Mr. Long is a graduate of the Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan and received his Bachelors and Masters degrees in improvisation from the Julliard School in New York City. He is currently organist for the Church of Wide Fellowship in Southern Pines. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. Thursday December 13th in the Mac Donald Gym at Hoke High School. The public is urged to at tend. Admission is SI. Hoke students selected for med program Two Hoke High students have been selected to participate in the Bowman Gray, School of Medicine of Wake Forest Universi ty's Medical Careers Program for high school students. Icesonnia Horsley, daughter of Leroy and Willie Horsley and Dar ryl Snapp, son of Jakie and Georgeanna Snapp will attend an Awareness Conference weekend with their parents in January as the guests of Bowman Gray School of Medicine. Each of these high school juniors will then compete an in dependent project before they at tend the two weeks summer session in June 1985. The purpose of this program is to make talented minority high school students aware of oppor tunities available to them in medicine and to foster their preparation for medical school. Icesonnia is a member of the Na tional Honor Society, a member of the Varsity volleyball, basketball and track teams and the French Club. Danyl is a member of the Na tional Honor Society and an active member of Lewis Chapel Church and its softball team and the French Club. Local students make Sandhills dean 's list These Hoke County area students have been placed on the Dean's List at Sandhills Communi ty College. To be placed on the list, a stu dent must achieve a 3.3 grade point average on twelve of more hours of work. The students are: Randall C. Barefoot, Laura C. Barrington, Lynn M. Blackshear, Anthony W.
