December at the Burlington In
dustries Raeford Plant. For her
suggestion she will receive a fire
extinguisher, a $25.00 gift cer
tificate at the Burlington
Employee Store and reserved
parking for a month. Her sug
gestion is to place a guardrail at
the Twisting office door to pre
vent employees from running
into each other while taking
short cuts. A smoking booth
will be installed in theis area to
make it impossible for
employees to take this
" dangerous short cut. "
McPhatter finishes
air defense course
Army Pvt. Michael K. McPhat
ter, grandson of Richard and
Kathryn McPhatter of Cockman
Hill Road, Raeford, has completed
the man-portable air defense
system course under the one sta
tion unit training (DSUT) program
at the U.S. Army Air Defense
School, Fort Bliss, Texas.
The thirteen-week school
familiarized students with the
Redeye and Stinger missile
systems, the Army's latest man
portable, shoulder-fired, short
range, anti-aircraft weapon.
He is a 1984 graduate of Hoke
High School.

Completes 20 years
James L. Beard recently com
pleted 20 years of continuous
service at the Raeford Plant of
Burlington Industries. Beard
has worked in several areas of
the plant including Spinning,
Planning and presently
Warehouse where he is
Warehouse Supervisor. He was
presented a pearl pin , certificate
and gift by Plant Management
to commemorate the achieve
ment.
