Donald McMillian was arrested and charged on December 10 for attempting to take a pair of jog ging pants, warrants for his arrest say. Virgil Owen Lowry, of Pem broke, was in court last week fac ing charges of possession of mari juana with intent to sell. According to court records, the charge was downgraded to main taining a vehicle for keeping a con trolled substance. Lowry, 28, who was arrested on December 18, was sentenced to 90 days suspended for one year un supervised probation and fined $100, records say. James Walter Bratcher, of Raeford, was found guilty of hit and run property damage last week, records say. Bratcher, 36, was said to have been involved in a traffic accident on Highway 401 and left the scene. After being found guilty, Brat cher was sentenced to two years suspended for three years supervis ed probation, ..fined $250 and ordered to pay $96 restitution to Marvin Peguese and $700 in restitution to Charlene Terry. Bratcher was in court on a war rant issued on June 10. records say. A Fayetteville man, Parick Jef fery Hensley, 17, was in court last week charged with possession of stolen goods. According to records, the charge was downgraded to unauthorized use of a car. Hensley was sentenced to no less than six months and no more than nine months suspended for two years of supervised probation. He was aJso ordered to pay $305 in restitution and perform 40 hours of community service. Terry Leonard Peterkin, of Raeford was given two years of supervised probation and fined $500 after being convicted of driv ing with his license revoked, records say. Peterkin, 24, was arrested and charged on August 27, say records. Michael Lee Walden, of Raeford, received two years super vised probation and ordered to pay over $300 restitution after he was convicted of unauthorized use of a vehicle, court records say. Walden, who was originally charged with possession of stolen property, was arrested on August 27, records say. Michael Gerald Scott, who was also arrested on August 27, receiv ed the same sentence as Walden in a separate case, records say. A Shannon man, who was originally charged with embezzel ment, received a six month suspended sentence and three years unsupervised probation after his charge was reduced to larceny. William George Winburn, 32, was found guilty of taking Si 17 from William Culp McNeill, records say. Winburn was ordered to pay $267 in restitution, records say. Andrew Carter, alias Ramzey Carter, of Raeford, was given a seven day active jail term after be ing convicted of his second offense of DWI. Arrested on September 29, Carter was also charged with a stop sign violation, records say. A note attached to Carter's file said that the man has been con victed of driving without a license three times and that he had never had a valid drivers license. To accompany his active sentence. Carter was placed on special supervised probation for two years and fined $300, records say. James Robert Weaver, of Raeford, was convicted of his third offense of DWI last week, records say. Weaver was arrested on August 27. The 27-year-old man was sentenced to two years special supervised probation, seven days in jail and fined $350, records say. The video recorder was reportedly valued at $407.96. On the same day, Preston Moore reported the theft of a lawn mower from under his carport. Moore told Sheriffs Deputies that he usually parks his car under the shelter but did not do so that night. The mower was valued at $800, reports say. A man who was in the hospital reported his home apparently rob bed on December 20. Leavy Baker told investigating officers that his home was broken into on September 10 and that ap parent thieves took a television, two heaters and a cassette-radio.' The items were valued at $563, reports say. Janet Anderson reported an ap parent break-in to a home she was renting. On December 17, Roscoe Wig gins reported that some of the win dows of his home were broken and that someone had entered and taken two citizen band radios, valued at $50, a tool box worth about $100, and a video game and 35 cartridges worth about $150. The house, owned by Horace Worwick, was entered and a refrigerator was stolen, reports say. According to reports, Anderson was in the process of moving from the house and was not present dur ing the break-in. Entry was gained into the house through the window of a rear door, reports say, adding that the refrigerator was valued at $400. Irene Dockery reported the theft of a television and a heater from her home on December 18. Apparent thieves got into the home through a bedroom window, reports say. The stolen items were valued at Si 38. An alarm system at the Kwik Stop in Arabia may have saved the store from being robbed on December 19. According to reports, someone broke into the bathroom on the outside of the store and tried to climb into the attic through the ceiling. When the intruders tried to come through the ceiling into the store, the alarm went off apparent ly scaring them away. A witness questioned after the act said that a car was seen speeding from the direction of the store soon after the alarm went off. There was about $200 damage done to the store, reports say. Nothing was reported missing, say reports. A $150 heater was reported stolen from the home of Brenna Melvin on December 16. According to reports, Melvin had travelled into town when the incident occurred. Linda Dial reported a gun miss ing from her house on December 17. According to reports, Dial believes the gun was taken when she was in the hospital during November. The back door of her home was found open upon her return, reports say. The value of the .25 calibre automatic pistol was placed at $80, reports say. Bill Cameron reported that a chainsaw was taken from under his carport on December 17. The bow saw was valued at $360, according to reports. On December 15, Iris Pickett reported $844 worth of personal items taken from her house after an apparent break-in. Taken was a television with a built in AM-FM radio and cassette player, a movie camera, an in stamatic camera, a 35 millimeter camera, and a watch, reports say. On December 19, an attack on an American Refuse Sanitation truck resulted in about $300 damage. Wayne Simmons, driver of the truck, reported that he was clean ing up around a trash container when a dark blue Chevrolet pick up truck slowly approached. Passengers in the rear of the truck shouted obscenities and began throwing broken cinder blocks at the truck. Both halves of the windshield of the truck were broken or weaken ed, reports say. Deaths & Funerals Lois Tew Lois Homer Lucas Tew, of Lumberton, died last Monday at 11:30 p.m. after an extended ill ness, at Womack Army Medical Center on Fort Bragg. Mrs Tew, formerly of Raeford, was 54. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Biggs Funeral Chapel in Lumberton with the burial to follow at the Raeford City Cemetery. Mrs. Tew is survived by her hus band, Jesse C. Tew, of Lumber ton; two daughters, Mrs. Cynthia Tew Turner, of Garner and Mrs. Debbie Tew Wellington, of Lumberton; three sisters, Mrs. Bula Newsome, of Roanoke Rapids, Mrs. Ozelle Henshaw of Greensboro and Mrs. Dorothy Mae Jackson, of Raeford; and one granddaughter, Christina Boyce of Lumberton. Edwin K. Pickler Edwin Kirk Pickler, 74, died Sunday at Moore Memorial Hospital. Funeral was 2 p.m. Monday from Powell Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. W.K. Fitch, Jr. officiating. Burial was in Shiloh Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Survivors include a son: E. Jerome Pickler, Aberdeen; two brothers: J.D. Pickler and Dwight Pickler, both of Aberdeen; a sister: Mrs. Margaret P. Lemon, N. Augusta, South Carolina and one grandchild. Memorials may be made to Shiloh Presbyterian Church, Route #3, Raeford, NC 28376. Murrell Gulledge Mrs. Murrell Williamson Gulledge, who lived on East Donaldson Avenue in Raeford, died last Friday. She was 78. Mrs. Gulledge was buried in graveside services on Saturday at the Raeford Cemetery. The ser vices were conducted by Rev. Billy Beaver. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Raeford and had been a homemaker. Mrs. Gulledge is survived by a son: Joel E. Gulledge of ^Mansfield, Texas; two daughters: Mrs. Anita Williams of Wilm ington and Mrs. Susan Fisher of Raleigh; nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Pallbearers for the service were: Ashwell Harward, Bobby Conoly, Mike Wood, Richard Coker, George Wood, Dave Barrington and Bob Townsend. Contributions can be made to the Raeford First Baptist Church. Crumpler Funeral Home assisted the family. Robert Mott Robert Mott, 58 of Hahira, Georgia died Monday evening at his home of an apparent heart at tack. Mott was born in Raeford. He lived in Florida before moving to Georgia 10 years ago. Mott was a veteran of WWII and a member of the American Legion. Survivors include his wife Nina Dickers Mott of Hahira; three daughters: Mrs. Vicki Lindsay of Hahira, Robin Mott of Hahira and Mrs. Cindy Bearden of Morven; one son: Bill Mott of Hahira; his mother: Mrs. Mary Mott Shewbridgeof Plantation, Florida; Mrs. Myra Lentz of Margate, Florida and one grandchild. Services were held on Wednes day at 3 p.m. at the Martin Funeral Home Chapel, Hahira. Dorothy Aldred Mrs. Dorothy Marie Boyd Aldred, 60, of High Point died Sunday in High Point Memorial Hospital. Funeral Services were held Mon day at 2 p. hi. in "Sechrcst Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Milford V. Thumm. Burial was in Floral Garden Park Cemetery in High Point. She was a member of First United Methodist Church. She is survived by her husband: William C. (Bill) Aldred, formerly of Raeford but now of High Point; three sisters: Mrs. Matt Marshall of Greensboro, Mrs. Clyde Glisson of Jamestown and Miss Eunice Boyd of Baltimore, Maryland; two step brothers: James P. Suits of Thomasville and Harold K. Suits of Pasadena, Florida. Donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association. Earl Headen Earl Headen, 42, formerly of Hoke County, died last week in New York City where he was liv ing.
