DWI cases earn district court senten cing During recent sessions of Hoke County District Coon, these cases were resolved: * James Alex Saunders, of Raeford, was fined SI SO, sentenc ed to three years on unsupervised probation and ordered to serve 48 hours of community service alter being convicted of DW1, records say. Saunders, 41, was arrested on January 19, according to records. Harold Thomas Overton was given a 120 day suspended sentence, fined $300 and ordered to perform 72 hours of community service after being convicted of drunk driving. The 36-year-old Overton, a Raeford resident, was arrested and charged on November 17, records say. In another traffic matter, William Thomas Hulett, of Shan non, received a 10 day sentence to rim concurrently with another sentence he is already serving after being convicted of driving with no license, records say. The 23-year-old man was ar rested on November 24, according to records. A 16-year-old Red Springs youth was ordered by the court to serve 80 hours of community service after being found guilty of taking a woman's pocket book, records say. Howard P. Woods was issued a warrant on December 4 for taking a purse belonging to Linda Gay Pilldngton. According to records, there was S3 (.75 in the pocket book. Woods was also placed on supervised probation for two years, records say. Julia Marshall Douglas, of Raeford, appeared in court last week charged with shoplifting and was found guilty, records say. The 41 -year-old woman was charged with using a tube of lipstick in Raeford's Revco and not paying for it, records say. She was given one year's proba tion and fined $100, according to records. Jacqueline Lee, of Raeford, was also given a probationary sentence and fined $100 after being con victed of shoplifting, records say. According to records, the 24-year-old woman was cited after being caught taking some eye shadow from the local Food Lion. Henry McNeill, of Raeford, was ordered by the court to pay about $20 in restitution to the Quewhiffle Store for bad checks, records say. A Raeford woman, Pauline Jen nings, was given a two year proba tionary sentence and fined $30 after being convicted of trespass ing around the Hoke County Jail after being asked to leave, records say. Jennings was arrested on January 31, records say. Kanares Earl Dean, of Fayet teville, was fined $100 and placed on probation for two years after pleading guilty to possession of stolen property, records say. A warrant for Dean's arrest was issued oq July 17 of last year, records say. Jerry Lewis Baldwin, of Raeford, will spend time in jail un til be comes up with $300 to pay his back child support payments. According to records, Baldwin was ordered to pay $20 per week on January 28, 1983. In previous court action, a 28-year-old Raeford man, who failed to pay child support, was sentenced to 90 days in prison last week for a probation violation in Hoke County District Court. District Court Judge Pate sentenced Gary Wayne Hobson to prison because he failed to pay child support cost thus breaking the probation attached to his suspended sentence of January 24, according to court records. Hobson was arrested on December IS for consuming alcohol in the passenger area of a car, having no operator's license and resisting arrest, records say. Hobson was convicted of the of fenses in January, records show. According to Hobson's sentenc ing record, the defendant was given 34 days credit for time spent in the Hoke County Jail. In other court action, a Red Springs man, Larry Bruce McKoy, was sentenced to one year in jail after his probation was revoked, records say. The man left his residence for a period of time without telling his probation officer, reports say. . Palmer Lamb, a Raeford resi dent, was sentenced to 30 days suspended for one year supervised probation for writing nine worth less checks to area businesses, records say. The checks totalled $130, records say. Most of the checks were to area convenience stores. Lamb was ordered by Judge Pate to pay restitution to all the stores that accepted the checks, records say. Jessie James Taylor, 21, was given a suspended sentence and ordered to one year unsupervised probation after being convicted of DWI stemming from an arrest on October 28 of last year, records say. Taylor, of Raeford, also was fined $100 and ordered to serve 24 hours in community service pro jects, records say. Thadeus Lee Hobson, of Raeford, was given a suspended sentence and one year on unsuper vised probation after being con victed of DWI, records say. Hobson, 19, was fined $100 and ordered to serve the community for 24 hours, records say. Alex McNeil, of Raeford, was ordered to spend 48 hours in the Hoke County Jail after being con victed of DWI, court records say. McNeil, 27, was arrested on December 21 of 1984. He was sentenced to one year unsupervised probation and ordered to pay a fine of Si 50, records say. Roy Lee Murchison, a Raeford resident, was cited on January 24 after trying to take three packs of cigarettes from Food Lion.
