Lady Bucks win title
for regular season
The Hoke High School Girls Basketball team .is assured a
place in the State 4-A Playoffs next week by virtue of their
winning the regular season Southeastern 4-A Conference.
The ladies also took the first steps to winning the con
ference tournament Monday night as they blasted past
Pinecrest to win 58-28.
The girls will host Scotland County Wednesday night.
The team is now sitting on a 22-1 season record after Mon
day night's victory.
Sheila Southerland scored 14 points for the ladies and Del
Pridgen added 10 for the win.
In their last meeting,- Hoke barely beat Pinecrest.
The home team slid by to defeat the Pinecrest girls 47-46.
Although Pridgen did get on the boards, she, Toni
Rheames and Sharon McNeill were on the bench at the start
of the game as a result of disciplinary action taken against
them when they missed practice Saturday.
Rheames and McNeill both scored six in the game.
Last Friday night, the girls walked all over Lumberton by a
score of 93-60.
Southerland hit for 28 points in that contest with Pridgen
helping for 21.
' Rheames made her mark in the game scoring 15.
In last Tuesday night's game against West Robeson,
Pridgen was the top Hoke scorer holding 16 points on the
game.
Following close behind was Rheames with 1 1 and Brenda
Melvin with 10.
The Bucks split in two games last week.
Last Tuesday night proved to be fairly easy for the boys as
they out scored West Robeson for a final of 68-47.
> Tony McRae topped all scorers in that game with 15.
Marco Pickett followed closely with 13.
In Friday night's game, the Bucks did not fair as well.
They were downed by Lumberton 77-68.
McRae did have a good night as he popped the rim for 28
points.
