In talking to my peach expert this week, it seems that the ther mometer dropped (below) 26 degrees last week and the peach crop could be hurt in Hoke Coun ty. It seems from news reports that the hard freeze in January got most of the peaches in the Sand hills. We will report later on the full damage in Hoke. ? ? ? The 1933 class has one member who has moved since the last reunion and didn't leave a for warding address. Her name was Julia Baker, a sister of the late Richard Baker of the Hillcrest community. It was good to see three ACC teams make the final eight, but tough not to get one in the final four. Famous last words: "Wait until next year!" , ? ? ? Every once in awhile you will get a surprise when you take mail from the mailbox. This happened to me twice last week. The first time was when I receiv ed a letter and it was addressed to VSam." The P.O. Box number was on the envelope along with the town and the correct zip code. If the writer of the letter knows my box number why didn't they know my last name. I hope to find out later. The second surprise was a copy of "The Oak Leaf & Acorn." The publication of Oak Ridge Military Academy. It was addressed to Price Morris, Raeford, N.C. It had 1924 on the label so that must have been the year that Price was at Oak Ridge. Price, now dead, was my uncle and someone in the Post Office must have known I was related. Of the Morris family, Mrs. William Lamont is the only one now living in Raeford. Fay lives in New Bern and Jack lives in Southern Pines. So I am the only Morris name left here in the family.
