She later ap peared on TV evening news pro grams, representing those who favored the bill. Her appearance there was to testify in support of strengthened seat belt laws. Bob and Mina's son, Neil, died in a one-car collision that might not have been fatal had he been protected by a scat belt. The Town sends agreed to help in the presentation on behalf of the legislation in hopes "that it might help others." . Personals Mr. and Mrs. Eddie McNeill and Mr. and Mrs. Jim McPhaul spent the weekend in Charleston, S.C. Mrs. Marguerite Thomas spent a long weekend in Coral Springs, Florida where she visited her'neice, Betty Wishart Howard. Mr. and Mrs. Andy Pasternak celebrated their 18th wedding an niversary on Saturday by inviting a group of friends for dinner in their home. They chartered a bus to take their guests to J. Albert's in Southern Pines for dancing. Julie and McKenzie Johnson, daughters of Ginger and Will Johnson, had birthday celebra tions recently. Julie's fourth birthday was on March 16. Five friends came for a party which induded a Cabbage Patch cake, ice cream and punch. Special guests were her maternal grandmother, Mrs. R.H. Garner of Roanoke Rapids, and her god mother, Cathie Walls of Pinehurst. McKenzie's first birthday was on March 29. Her family gathered to celebrate with ice cream and cake. Wedding on tap Mr. and Mrs. John Andrews Seats of Clemmons announce the engagement of their daughter, An drea Jean, to Robert Bailey Suggs IV. He is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Robert Bailey Suggs III of Bel mont. The bride-elect is the grand daughter of Mrs. E.E. Smith of Raeford. Miss Seats is a graduate of West Forsyth High School and Western Carolina University. She has a B.S. in social work and is now a training agent with Piedmont Airlines. The prospective bridegroom is a graduate of South Point High School and Western Carolina University. He is employed by Dix ie Bearings, Inc. The wedding is planned for May 4 in Clemmons Unit?d Methodist Church'of Clemmons. Correction Miss Teresa Parker has asked The News- Journal to retract the announcement of her engagement. McGougan spent last week in Richmond, Virginia with her daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Noftsinger, Jr. Julius C. Wooley III, infant son of Mr. and Mrs. J.C. Wooley, was in Cape Fear Hospital last week with a virus. Richard Dean Lewis, infant son of Mr. and Mrs. James L. Lewis was also in Cape Fear Hospital four days last week. Mrs. J. Edwin Clifton was a pa tient in Cape Fear Hospital Satur day and Sunday. Mrs. Bobby Thompson was very sick last week, suffering with an in fected tooth. Fritz R. Weber Campbell, III, student of A and M Univ., Texas spent several days recently with his grandparents, Col. and Mrs. F.R. Weber. Mrs. Ella Carr has been in Cape Fear Hospital two weeks. Mrs. Carr was hurt in an auto accident, and underwent surgery. Mrs. Elsie R. Patterson and Mrs. Betty R. Moore of Fayet teville visited Ms. Lib and Lois Sumner Sunday. Verna McGougan, Dot McGougan, Pearl Dew and Mrs. Mavis Foster attended a W.M.U. meeting in Winston-Salem two days last week. Visiting Mrs. T.L. Shook Sun day were Miss Eva Shook and Mrs. Sheila Wallace and children from Stanley, N.C. Mrs. Lee Shaw had the misfor tune of falling and breaking her right wrist Monday. Wood-Walters vows planned Mr. and Mrs. Allen Wilton Wood Jr. announce the engage ment of their daughter, Jeanne Elizabeth, to Stuart Doud Walters. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. David R. To be married Miss Susan Gale Blackman and Timothy Brigman Matthews plan to marry on May 1 1 in MacPher son Presbyterian Church in Fayet teville. The bride-elect is the daughter of Mrs. Douglas Blackman and Douglas Blackman of Sanford. She is a Meredith College graduate and a teacher in the Hoke County School system. The groom -elect is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Hersey Rolland Mat thews of Fayetteville. He attended Elon and Methodist Colleges. He is a real estate associate with Cen tury 21 Pacesetter of Fayetteville.
