Baby Shower
The Ladies Auxiliary honored
Mrs. Mary Francis Mollo with a
surprise baby shower on Tuesday
evening at the Town Hall.
The refreshment table was
covered with a white lace cloth
and, an arrangement of spring
flowers and candles decorated the
center.
Cake squares, mints, nuts and
punch were served by Marion
Summer, Pam Lewis and Debbie
Chason.
The honoree displayed her many
useful gifts.

Bridal parties held
On March 4, Miss Donna Hales,
April 27 bride-elect of Lee Mat
thews, was honored with a kitchen
shower at Raeford United
Methodist Church. Mrs. Ron Ellis
was hostess for the event in the
Fellowship Hall.
The honoree was given a corsage
of white carnations with two gold
wedding rings in it. The bride
elect's mother, Mrs. Donald
Hales, was also given a corsage of
white carnations.
Guests were invited to the
church fellowship hall. Cake
squares, nuts, mints, sausage balls,
and hot apple cider were served.
On March 24, Mrs. David
Howell hosted a lingerie shower
for Miss Hales at the Howell home
on East Donaldson Ave. The
guests were employees of Revco
and the bride's wedding atten
dants.
On March 29 Mrs. Lois Mat
thews of Winston-Salem was
hostess for a dinner honoring Miss
Hales and Mr. Matthew. The pro
spective bridegroom's grand
mother entertained in the Coronet
Restaurant in Winston-Salem.
On March 30, Miss Hales was
honoree at a tea in Winston -Salem.
Mrs. J.O. Hedrick, Mr. Matthew's
grandmother, and his aunt, Mrs.
John Hedrick, were hostesses.
Cake squares, nuts, cream
cheese sandwiches, and punch
were served in Mrs. J.G. Hedrick's
home. '
Miss Hales received gifts of
china, crystal, and linens.
On April 12 Mrs. W.C. Sellars
gave a party for Miss Hales.
Guests were served nuts, mints,
cake squares, finger foods and
punch.
Birthday
celebrated
On April 5 Mrs. Aquilla Jones
was honored at a party for her 81st
birthday.
Hostesses were Mrs. Marie
Fowler, her daughter, Mrs. Jannie
Mae Allen and Mrs. Louise Allen,
her foster daughters, and Mrs.
Mary Waddy, her cousin.
After lunch at the Cameron
Heights Center, ice cream and cake
was served to the guests. Special
guests were Mrs. Maggie Holt and
Mrs. Maggie Brown.

Ellis -Williams wed
On April 13 Miss Samantha
Ja'Nae Williams was married to
Bruce Darrell Ellis. The bride is the
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James
Williams of Rockingham. The
groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs.
Raymond Ellis of Raeford.
The wedding took place in the
Beverly Hills Baptist Church of
Rockingham. The Rev. Stan
Welch officiated.
The church decorations featured
a fifteen branch candelabra and a
kneeling bench entwined with fern.
The family pews were marked with
ivory lace bows holding ivy,
babies' breath and a touch of blue.
Mary Welch, soloist, of Kan
napolis sang "The Lord's Prayer"
and "My Tribute." Mrs. Rodney
Collins, soloist, sang "God, A
Woman and A Man." Mrs. Col
lins and Barry Ellis, the groom's
brother of Austin, Texas, sang
"Just You and I." Mrs. Larry
Moser of Aberdeen was pianist.
The bride, escorted by her
father, wore a long ivory gown of
chiffon over taffeta. Styled with a
high neckline and chantilly lace
collar, the dress had a fitted
bodice, long sheer sleeves, and a
full skirt with soft pleats and a tie
sash. She wore an ivory picture hat
which was covered with ribbon
lace and seed pearls And had a
rosette and satin streamers on one
side. She carried a cascade bouquet
of miniature ivory carnations,
stephanotis, ivory and blue roses,
babies' breath, and a royal cattelya
orchid.
The bride's maid of honor was
Lisa Lafaye Bittle of Aberdeen.
She wore an intermezzo-length
dress of blue matte taffeta with a
wrap front. The bodice had puffed
sleeves and matching embroidery.
She carried a single, long-stemmed
ivory rose with ivory streamers and
touches of blue. She wore babies'
breath in her hair.
Ron Ellis, cousin of the groom,
was his best man. Ushers were
Tony Bart ley Williams of Southern
Pines and James Robert Williams
Jr. of Charlotte, brothers of the
bride.
The mothers of the bride and
groom wore corsages of ivory
roses. The grandmothers also wore
flowers.
After the ceremony, the bride's
parents entertained with a recep
tion in the fellowship hall of the
church.
The room was decorated with
greenery and candelabra. The
table, covered with white linen and
overlaid with lace, had an arrange
ment of pink roses, blue and ivory
flowers.
The wedding cake was accented
with ribbon ruffle scallops on the
sides and shell trim at the base.
Tiny drop flowers were on the
sides and miniature flowers on the
top. Aftesthe bride and groom cut
the first 'slice, they greeted the
guests.
The couple plans to live on Route
1, Aberdeen after a trip to the
N.C. mountains. The bride, a
graduate of Richmond Sr. High
School, is employed at the
Pinehurst Hotel in Pinehurst. The
groom, a graduate of Hoke High
School and Johnston Technical
College, is employed by Aberdeen
and Rockfish Railroad.
PRE-NUPTIAL FESTIVITIES
On Friday evening, April 12,
Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Ellis,
parents of the groom, entertained
the wedding party and out-of-town
guests at the Family Sirloin Steak
House in Rockingham.
On March first, the bride-elect
was honored at a bridal shower in
the home of her aunt, Mrs.
Thomas Bittle Jr. She received a
corsage of miniature yellow roses
when she arrived.
On March 26, the ladies of the
Beverly Hills Baptist Church
showered the bride-elect with gifts.
