Republicans elect officers Hoke County Republicans met and elected officers last week. Re-elected as president of the party in Hoke County was Evelyn Manning. Also elected were: Vice president - J.H. Blue Jr., Reiley McPhaul - Secretary and Jennifer Manning - Treasurer. Local student wins state driving award A tenth grader at Hoke County High School placed fourth in the North Carolina Driver and Traffic Safety Education Association Rodeo last Thursday in Ashville. Kelly Calloway, the only woman in the competition, beat out 12 guys for the fourth place finish, In structor Howard Barkley said. Kelly will compete next in the Amvcts Dodge Driver Excellence Rodeo in Concord on May 3. The winner of that contest will receive a $1,000 scholarship, a free trip to the nationals held in Ohio and a chance to win a new Dodge for a year. Pouring the floors Contractor Lander Peterkin and others donate their services to the Raeford Depot restoration project by finishing floors and footings last week. The concrete for the repairs was given by Commercial Pro ducts of Raeford. Efforts are being made now to raise additional funds for the depot by raffling off a $ 2,200 John Deere riding lawnmower. Raffle tickets are on sale at different locations around the county and through the Chamber of Commerce for $10. Deaths & Funerals Jean BcU McColl Miss Jean Bell McColl, 62, died Sunday. Graveside services were held Monday at 3 p.m. at the Red Bluff Cemetery in Clio, South Carolina by the Rev. Archie Barringer. Survivors include one son: William Robert McColl of River dale; Maryland; five brothers: Laurin McColl, Red Springs, Thomas McColl and Worth Mc Coll of Raeford, John McColl of Coppers Cove, Texas and Robert McColl of Louisville, Tennessee; four sisters: Mrs. Catherine Crawford of Hendersonville, Mrs. Bernice Robertson of Swannanoa, Mrs. Effie Forbis, Lumber Bridge and Mrs. Margaret Terry of Raeford. Sharon Faye Thomas Miss Sharon Faye Thomas, 25, died Monday morning at her home. Funeral Services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the First Bap r? ? ? ? tist Church by Rev. Billy Beaver. Burial will be in Raeford cemetery. Survivors are her parents: Mr. and Mrs. Francis Thomas of Raeford; one brother: Michael Wayne Thomas of Southern Pines; two sisters: Mrs. Toni McLean of Raeford and Miss Mychelle Thomas of the Home and her maternal grandmother: Mrs. Lillie S. Watts of Lumberton. The family was assisted by Crumpler Funeral Home. Gary Michael Lomack Gary Michael Lomack, 27, of Route 1 Raeford, died Saturday. Funeral Services will be held Fri day at Friendship Grove Free Will Baptist Church by Bishop Robert Douglas. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 7 to 8 p.m. Thurs day. Doby Funeral Home is in Charge of the arrangements. L.B. a ark L.B. Q ark, 43, of Rt. 1, Raeford, died Thursday April 25, at the Moore Memorial Hospital after an illness of four days. Clark was born on November 23, 1941 in Robson County, the son of Mrs. Katie Bullard Clark and the late Mr. Vordell Clark. He was an employee of the Catawba Timber Company, Hamlet; Funeral services were held on Sunday, April 28, at the South Hoke Baptist Church, Rt. #1, Red Springs, with the Rev. Horace Strickland, Minister, assisted by the Rev. David Hunt and Rev. Johnny Chavis Interment followed in the Clark family cemetery, Max ton. Survivors are: His wife the former Juanita Lowery of the home; two sons: Timothy Clark and Aric Clark of the home; one daughter: Mrs. Pamela C. Scott, of Red Springs; Mother: Mrs. Katie B. Clark of Pembroke; Ave brothers: Roger Lee Clark of Raleigh, Charles Clark of Pem broke, Ardell Clark, ReDell Clark and Carl Gene Clark all of Max ton; three sisters: Mrs. Mary Locklear, Greensboro, Mrs. Eloise Locklear of High Point and Mrs. Carol Chavis of Norfolk, Virginia. Arrangements were by McKeithan Funeral Home, Mt. Gilead. Mary Frmnds Harrington Mrs. Mary Francis Harrington, 96, of Raeford died Tuesday at St. Joseph at the Pines Hospital.
