62-year-old given jail
for driving while drunk
A 62-year -old Raeford man was
sent to prooa to serve a 120-day
sentence after being convicted in
Hoke County District Court of
driving while impaired (DWI;
three timet in one month.
Donnie Haithcock will get the
alcohol treatment he needs while
serving his sentence, said District
Court Judge Warren Pate.
"Obviously, the man has a
serious alcohol problem," uud
Pate last week after the sentencing.
Haithcock was arrested for DWI
on March 3, March 29 and on
March 31, according to court
records.
On March 31, Haithcock was
also charged with driving while his
license was revoked, records say.
The man was sentenced to one
year suspended for three years on
special supervised probation and
120 days in jail, records say.
Haithcock was also ordered to
pay a S500 fine, records say.
Pate ordered alcohol treatment
for the man on a commitment
form:
According to Judge Pate, the
man will get no time off for good
behavior from his sentence.
Haithcock will have to spend all
120 days in jail, he said.
A Maxton man was sentenced to
two years in prison after being con
victed of DWI for the third time in
van according to court
records.
Vintreu Brooks. 38. was ar
rested for the thud time on
February 16. records say.
The man was also charted with
driving while tab bcensc was per
manently revoked, records say.
Norman Smith Jr. a Raeford
resident, was sentenced to ,su
months suspended for one year on
supervised probation and ordered
to pay a S200 fine and S42 in
restitution after being convicted of
forgery, records say.
According to a warrant for
Smith's arrest, the man forged
Allen Simmon's name on the back
of a check for 142.
The man was arrested in July of
last year.
George Vatrice Beatty, of
Raeford. was sentenced to 60 days
in jail suspended for one year un
supervised probation and fined
$100 for DWI, according to
records.
Beatty, 38, was arrested on
December 23 of last year, records
say.
The man was also sentenced to
perform 24 hours of community
service.
Norman McFayden, a 40-year
old Raeford resident, was fined
S25 for appearing drunk and
disorderly in public on February
26, records say.
