"I want to work on starting some scholarships and getting some endowments for the school," said Burgess. Burgess will also be working to get alumni involved with the school "just to get a link to the past," he said. According to Burgess, one of the reasons the school is so strong and graduates such prepared students is because of the good teacher parent relationship. "I will be working to build on that also," he said. Although there will be no changes in the school for the first semester of Burgess' tenure, he will be working to establish some new course offerings later, he said. "It will be on a small scale, but students need to be prepared for college and the workforce," he said. Burgess has held various Jack Burgess teaching, coaching and ad ministrative positions in his 13 years in education. He is a certified school ad ministrator and received his master's and educational specialist degrees from East Carolina University.
