Jones-Davis marry
in May 1 2 ceremony
On May 12, Miss Susan K. Davis -
was married to Richard H. Jones
in the Raeford United Methodist
Church. The Rev. Arthur
Winstead officiated.
The bride is the daughter of
Mrs. Doreen Davis and the late
Paul B. Davis. She is a graduate of
Sandhills Community College and
now attends Pembroke State
University. She is employed at
Home Food Super Market.
The groom is the son of Jesse
Jones and Kitzy Norris Jones. He
attended Pembroke State Universi
ty and is now employed as a pilot
by Owens Air Service.
Brass urns held white gladiolia,
mums, roses, and carnations with
touches of pink. An arrangement
of these flowers was on the altar.
The sanctuary was lit with four
seven-branch candelabra.
Wedding musicians were Mrs.
Nancy McNeill, organist, and Ken
Koonce, soloist. Mr. Koonce sang
"Wedding Song" and "The
Lord's Prayer."
The bride, escorted by her
brother, Paul B. Davis Jr., wore a
long jersey gown. Venetian lace ac
cented the bodice and trimmed the
long sleeves. The softly pleated
skirt had a separate flowing train.
She wore a hat which was appli
qued with lace and pearls; it held a
blusher veil. Her flowers were ar
ranged in a colonial bouquet of
carnations, lily of the valley, and
roses, centered with an orchid.
The bride's niece, Jennifer Pait
of North Wilkesboro, was her
maid of honor. She wore a long
taffeta dress with a sweetheart
neckline. She carried a colonial
bouquet of pale pink roses, carna
tions and an orchid.
Bridesmaids were Ashley Jones,
sister of the groom, and Vicki
Hendrix, both of Raeford. Their
dresses were of a darker shade of
pink and their "flowers were deep
pink roses with carnations and an
orchid.
Jesse Jones, father of the
groom, was his best man. Ushers
were Scott Godwin of Wade,
Frank Pait Jr., nephew of the
bride from North Wilkesboro, and
Will Davis, brother of the bride,
and David Hogin of Raeford. The
men all wore grey tuxedos with
grey cumberbunds and bow ties.
The groom wore a white bouton
niere, the best man wore a pale
pink rose, and the ushers wore
deep pink roses.
Miss Elizabeth Owens, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Owens of
Raeford, was flower girl. She wore
a dress of sheer organza, a ruffled
neckline and back panel.
The wedding was directed by
Mrs. Charlotte Davis of Rock
ingham.
RECEPTION
The bride's family hosted a
reception in the church fellowship
hall immediately following the
ceremony. Army-Navy cloths
covered the food tables. A round
table held the wedding cake. An
arrangement of spring flowers
centered a table from which
punch, nuts, homemade mints,
cheese biscuits, and fruit were serv
ed.
Mr. and Mrs. Eddie McNeill
greeted guests. Mrs. Rosa William
son served cake. Miss Noel Jones
poured punch. Mrs. Bertie Haire,
Mrs. Barbara Jones, and Mrs.
Catherine McNeill assisted in serv
ing. Tea girls were Missy Jones and
Jaquelene Jones.

PRE-WEDDING FESTIVITIES
REHEARSAL DINNER
On May 11, a rehearsal dinner
was hosted by the groom's mother,
Kitzy N. Jones, and his grand
mother, Mrs. Richard Norris. The

and out of town guests.
Fifty-three guests were served
prime rib roast, brown rice, string
beans, tossed salad and chocolate
supreme.
BRIDESMAIDS' LUNCHEON
On May 9, Miss Davis and her
attendants were honored at a lun
cheon at the home of Mrs. Carson
Davis. Hostesses were Mrs. Davis,
Mrs. Carson Davis Jr. of Wilming
ton, and Mrs. Woodrow Davis of
Rockingham.
The bride-elect was given a daisy
corsage. Twelve guests were in
vited into the dining room for fruit
punch and cheese biscuits as they
arrived.
Three lace-covered tables with
arrangements of pink roses were
set in the living room. Chicken
salad, cantaloupe, baked apples,
and ribbon sandwiches were serv
ed. Dessert was strawberry angel
cake.
Miss Davis gave her attendants
cosmetic kits.
The hostesses' gifts were china
in the bride-elect's chosen pattern.

Junior Woman's Club
holds annual banquet
Mrs. Kenny Booker and Mrs.
Boyce Falls were honored by the
Raeford Junior Woman's Club at
its year-end banquet. The annual
dinner meeting was held on May 24
at the JFR Barn in Southern Pines.
After the meal, Mrs. Boyce
Falls, President, presided in a
business meeting. She thanked the
club members for their active sup
port and contributions during the
club year.
Mrs. Mark Williams, a new
member, presented the Citizenship
Bowl to Mrs. Kenny Booker. The
Club honored her for her en
thusiasm and support in all phases
of club work. Mrs. Booker has
been especially helpful with the
work of the Juniorette Club this
year.
Mrs. Williams then presented
the Raeford Junior Clubwoman of
the Year Award to Mrs. Boyce
Falls. The recipient this year, as
always, is an individual who gives
noteworthy time and energy to all
Club projects.
Mrs. Falls asked the Club to
vote on whether funds would be
donated to the Depot Restoration.
Members voted unanimously in
favor of a donation.
Club members were reminded
that the Club project of recogniz
ing pretty yards would continue
through the summer. This project
is being done co-operatively with
the Chamber of Commerce.
Woodmen honor Mary Haire
Mary Ruth Haire, President of
W.O.W. Lodge 6179, was recently
named Fraternalist of the Year for
East North Carolina Woodmen of
the World. She received this honor
at a meeting of the N.C. Fraternal
Congress and the N.C. Chapter of
Fraternal Insurance Counsellors
Association. The meeting was held
in Burlington on May 17.
J. Dick Moore, President of the
N.C. Association of Life Under
writers, spoke in the morning ses
sion. The meeting included reports
of the NAFIC and NFCA, the
presentation of production
awards, and panel discussion.
William B. Foster, National
Fraternal Congress of America,
was banquet speaker.
Peggy Calloway, treasurer of
W.O.W. Lodge 6179, went to the
meeting with Mrs. Haire.

Mr. and Mrs. Michael Dietzel of
Baton Rouge, La., have brought
their children for a visit with Mrs.
Dietzel's mother, Mrs. A.R. Fitz
Simmons Jr. They have also visited
Col. and Mrs. Joe Dietzel of
Lumberton, Mr. Dietzel's parents.
On Sunday, Thomas Michael,
their infant son, was baptized at
Bethel Church by the Rev. W.K.
Fitch Jr. Special guests who joined
the family for this occasion were
the baby's grandparents, Mr. and
Mrs. C.H. Humprey and sons
Michael and Joel of Cary, Mr. and
Mrs. Tom McBryde and Mr. and
Mrs. David Scott Currie Jr. of
Raeford.
Mr. and Mrs. R.E. Neeley at
tended graduation exercises at
George Washington University in
Washington, D.C. on May 19.
Their son, Richard Louis Neeley,
was graduated with honors from
the School of Law.
Mr. and Mrs. William Haire Jr.
of Woodbridge, Va., visited his
grandmother, Mrs. Mary Ruth.
Haire, during the Memorial Day
weekend.
