Monday 5 p.m. WmJa/ Skinner-Powers marry Miss Kelly Grey Powers, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Keller Powers of Parkton, and James Crawford Skinner Jr., son of Mrs. Sarah Ann Skinner, and the late Mr. Skinner, of Parkton, were united in marraige on June 1st at seven o'clock in the evening in the Parkton Presbyterian Church. Officiating at the candlelight, double ring ceremony, was the Reverend William Thomas Wing IU. Wedding music was presented by Miss Elizabeth Blue, organist, Tim Sessoms, trumpeter, and members of the Presbyterian Chancel Choir, who sang "Canon In D," and "May The Lord Bless And Keep you." The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a highnecked white taffeta gown with sheer English netting over the shoulders. The bodice of silk Venice lace and pearls had Juliet sleeves of taffeta and sheer netting with lace and pearl appliques. Falling from the dropped waistline, the full taffeta skirt extended into a cathedral train with large appliques of lace and pearls. Her waltz length veil of imported illusion cascaded from a wreath of silk flowers and heavy beaded pearls. The bride's bouquet was a cascade of miniature pink sweethert roses. Sandra Powers Jackson, sister of the bride, was matron of honor. Her gown was silver grey taffeta. The high front neckline dipped to a low vee in back and was edged with a double ruffle of silver grey and petal pink. At the waistline of the softly gathered skirt was a cumber bund of petal pink. She carried a cascade of mixed spring flowers. Bridesmaids were: Shawn Wood of Fayetteville; Terri Tenhet, cousin of the bride, of Hope Mills; Lee Hughes and Sarah Hughes of Morehead City; Anne Hughes of Red Springs; and Lisa McDonald of Hendersonville. They wore gowns and carried bouquets iden tical to those of the honor atten dant. Jack Skinner served as his brother's best man. Ushers were: Heck Furmage, Jeffrey Johnson, and Steven Thaggard of Parkton, David Thaggard of Virginia, Bent Finley of Raleigh and Mark McVickers of Fayetteville. Ringbearer was Robert Sealey, nephew of the bride, of Parkton. Silver grey and petal pink were the colors carried thoughout the decorations for the sanctuary. There were altar arrangements of summer flowers in tall white anti que wicker baskets. Lighted candles in hurricane shades were used in the deep memorial win dows and brass sconces on the balcony support columns. Hur ricane shades tied with pink ribbon and babies breath covered the candles. The parents of the bride enter tained wedding guests at a recep tion in the Currie Fellowship Hall of the church immediately follow ing the ceremony. The bride, a student in Commer cial Art at Fayetteville Technical College, graduated from Flora Macdonald Academy and attended East Carolina University. She is employed at Fasco Industries. Rockfish News By Polly Barnard Tel. 875-2736 The sermon topic for morning worship service the past Sunday at Galatia Presbyterian Church was, "Nevertheless," delivered by church pastor, Dr. David Sutton. Congratulations to Kay Jenkins and Nancy McNeill who graduated from high school this spring. They were presented Bibles during wor ship service Sunday morning at Galatia Presbyterian Church. Con gratulations also to Susan Chap pell who graduated from East Carolina University. Tabernacle Baptist Church had good attendance for worship ser vice Sunday morning. The sermon topic was, "The Mark Of A Chris tian," delivered by Rev. Michael Osment. Rev. and Mrs. Osment have moved into the pastorium and are welcomed to the church and the community. Congratulations to them on the birth of their daughter, Emily Erin, born May 20th at Wilson Memorial Hospital in Wilson. The following high school graduates were recognized and presented a Bible during service at Tabernacle Baptist Church Sun day. Ronnie Bundy, Barbara Dees, Charles Faircloth, Benjie Harrell and Kim McCall. The Mission Action Group of the W.M.U. met Monday evening in the home of Mrs. Anne Bunday in Fayetteville. The Bible Study Group met Tuesday morning in the home of Mrs. Alma Mailer nee. The Rockfish Extension Homemakers Club met at the home of Mrs. Herman Koonce Tuesday morning, May 28th. Club president, Mrs. Mary Benkosky called the meeting to order. After a business discussion, Mrs. Agnes Clark presented the program. "Growing Old Graceful ly." When the meetinst adjourned the hostess invited everyone to the dining room for a delightful lun cheon. The community extends sym pathy to the family of Charlie Boahan who died Friday, May 24. Funeral was Sunday, May 26 at Galatia Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Dolly Daugherty, Mrs. Bil ly Lovette and Mrs. Jack Brady of Cumberland and Paul McCrim mon of Hope Mills were among the visitors of Miss Mary Priest and brothers last weekend. Recent visitors in the home of Mrs. Louise Watson were Mr. and Mrs. A.D. Berry and grand daughter, Midge of Bennettesville, South Carolina. Mr. and Mrs. Dwight English and daughters, Samantha, Kelley and Heather of Connelley Springs visited Mrs. Grace Lnglish recent ly Mrs. L.B. (Bob) Bundy has been released from the V.A. Hospital in Fayetteville and is recuperating at home. Mrs. Claudyne Brock is recuperating at home following back surgery at Moore County Hospital recently. Mrs. Paulette Dickerson of Memphis, Tennessee, sister of Mrs. Michael Osment is visiting Rev. and Mrs. Osment this week. Miss Nellie McFadyen has been on the sick list for several weeks. Mrs. Anne Sessoms and Mrs. Myrtle Sessoms visited Mr. and Mrs. George Moore of Mt. Pleasants, South Carolina recent ly. Grahams celebrate 50th anniversary On May 1 1 Mr. and Mrs. Robert L. Graham were honored at a par ty celebrating their 51st anniver sary. The Four Flames Restaurant was the setting for the presentation of cards, gifts, and flowers. Four of their seven children and ten of their grandchildren were present. Special out-of-town guests who came were Bishop Odessa Cov ington, Janie Miller, Mr. and Mrs. Willie Shaw and son of High Point, and Mrs. Sarah Carpenter and family of Troy.
