House of Raeford named one of the state's top firms One company from the Raeford area has been named to the North Carolina 100 by Arthur Andersen Co. and Business: North Carolina magazine. The rankings, based on annual sales volume from figures supplied or verified by the participating companies, list the top 100 privately-held companies in the state. The rankings were compiled after a three-month study by Ar thur Andersen & Co. and the magazine. In the Raeford area, the com pany named to the North Carolina 100 was House of Raeford Farms, which ranked 15th. Manufacturing, which repre sents more than half of the com panies on the list, dominated the North Carolina 100 as it did last year. The study included only privately-held companies. Firms whose stock is traded on any public market were excluded. So were companies not head quartered in North Carolina, and those that are subsidiaries of the out-of-state companies. Banks and other financial in stitutions, real estate companies and retailers were not included. The chief executive officers of the North Carolina 100 were honored on June 5 at a luncheon in Charlotte. The featured speaker will be nationally syndicated newspaper columnist and televi sion commentator George Will. Arthur Andersen A Co., the in ternational accounting and con sulting firm, provides accounting and audit, tax management infor mation consulting, and profes sional education services to its clients through 176 offices in 45 countries. * North Carolina offices are in Charlotte, Greensboro and Raleigh. : Retires ; Flora S. Crowley recently ; retired from the Raeford Plant ; of Burlington Industries after I 38 years unbroken service. Crowley began her employment with the company at the Red ' Springs Plant on April 29, 1947. After working there almost eight years she transferred to ? the Raeford Plant. Her remain ing tenure has been in the ? Preparation Department work ing on various jobs in that area. Prior to her retirement she worked in the Preparation Department as a Draw-in Hand. To recognize her retire ment, she was presented a Retirement Plaque and Bible by Plant Management. New manager Robin Locklear has been named the new store manager for the Raeford Family Dollar Store. Locklear' s responsibility will be to oversee the 5,000 square foot Main Street facility. 25 years service Barbara J. Gravely recently completed 25 years of un broken service at the Burl ington Industries Raeford Plant. She began her employ ment with the company In the Cloth Department as a Mender. Since that time she has had several promotions and presently works in the Weave Department as a Warp Changer Draw-in Rtpiker.
