DEADLINES: Weddings A Engagements, Thursday 5 p.m. Other Social Items, Monday 5 p.m. Little-Harris marry Miss Annie Ruth Monroe Harris was married to Robert Lewis Little on May 4 in the Daniels Temple Church of Raeford. Eldress ?uline Daniels officiated at the uble ring ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Prunell Monroe and the late James "Boots" Monroe. She is a graduate of Hoke County High School. She attended Fayetteville Technical Institute and graduated from Sandhills Community Col lege. She is a licensed cosmetologist. The groom is the son of Mr. and Curtis Little. He is a Hoke High graduate. He is employed by Perdue, Inc. of Robbins and is now in active duty with the Army National Guard. Burgundy, pink and white flowers were used in arrangements for the altar and for other floral decorations. A twenty-branch candelabra, a kneeling bench, and a unity candle were highlighted 0ith greenery. The family pews were marked with pink satin bows. Mrs. Arthur B. Kemp was organist. "The Lord's Prayer" was sung by Lovella Daniels. Den nis Daniels sang "Without Him". The bride, escorted by her brother, Curtis Monroe, wore a gown which was trimmed with pearls and rhinestones. The fitted bodice had a scalloped neckline ^nd long sleeves of lace. Her flow ing veil fell from a lace cap which had pearls in a heart design. Her flowers were white carnations, and roses of burgundy babies' breath and fern. Matron of honor was Mrs. Mary Monroe of Raeford. Maid of honor was Miss Betty Little, also of Raeford. Their dresses were burgundy with Roman-styled Ashes, gathered at the shoulders. Each carried a long-stemmed pale pink mum in babies' breath with a pink ribbon. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Lula Ray and Miss Loretta Monroe, sisters of the bride, Miss Doris Little and Miss Brenda Little, sisters of the groom, Mrs. Donna Little, Mrs. Wilmer Lawrence, and Mrs. Ava Ray, all of Raeford. They wore pink gowns and carried flowers like those of the honor attendents. Dennis Daniels was best man. Ushers were David Little and Cur tis Little, brothers of the groom, Tim Purcell, cousin of the groom, Anthony Monroe, David Monroe, Charles Ray, and Jerry Baldwin, all of Raeford. The ushers wore gray tuxedos with burgundy ties and cummerbunds. The groom wore a white tail coat with burgundy accessories. All of the men wore pink boutonnieres. Flower girls were Miss Rosalyn Clark and Miss Sonja Blue, Miss Shemicka Monroe and Miss Shon ta Stevens were train carriers. The girls wore pink and white lace dresses and matching hair ac cessories. The ringbearer was Curtis Little Jr. He wore a white suit and tie. The mothers of the bride and groom were dressed alike in burgundy. Each wore a white car nation corsage. A reception followed the ceremony in the Scurlock School cafeteria. Refreshments featured a five-tier wedding cake. The cake was decorated with white wedding bells, pink and burgundy flowers, and miniature bridesmaids and ushers. The top layer held a small bride and groom. Pink and burgundy were used in the floral arrangements and ribbon which decorated the reception area. Mrs. Gloria Virgil, Mrs. Mary McNeill and Mrs. Dorothy Walker assisted with the reception. Rehearsal Tea On May 2, the bridal pair enter tained the wedding party with a rehearsal tea. The church dining hall was the setting for refreshments after the rehearsal. Dr. David Sutton's sermon for the children, assisted by Clyde Webb was good. Adult sermon topic was: "Who is in Charge?" Amanda Gundlach, infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert "Sonny" Gundlach of Rocky Mount, granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Lindsay, was baptised by Dr. Sutton Sunday morning, assisted by Elder David Lindsay. Vacation Bible School at Galatia begins July 22 and continues through July 26th. All children in the area are invited to attend. The community extends sym pathy to the family of Blackmon Cook who died Thursday, June 13. Funeral service was Sunday after noon at 3 at Galatia Presbyterian Church. The day of Tabernacle Church Sunday began with the Monthly Brotherhood Breakfast in the fellowship hall at 7 o'clock. Rev. Michael Osmont brought the devo tional and the men enjoyed breakfast and fellowship. The morning worship service was not as well attended as usual. It could have been due to the incle ment weather and some members visiting their fathers. Rev. Osment brought the morning message. The fathers in the congregation were recognized and admonished to fulfill their Christian respon sibilities as fathers. Special musi was provided by the Jubilee and Music Makers Choirs. Rev. Jimmy Dees, Associate Pastor, who had been in revival service in Dunn, was in the pulpit Sunday night. He preached a Father's Day Sermon. Pamela Os ment, an accomplished soloist sang a solo. Vacation Bible School at Taber nacle will be held June 24-28. All children in the area are encouraged to attend. Mrs. Alma Parker of Selma is visiting her sister, Mrs. Grace English, Mrs. Louise Watson and other relatives in the area. She will leave this week for a visit with her sister, Mrs. Arthur Watson of White Lake before returning to Selma. Visitors in the home of Mrs. Louise Watson Sunday afternoon and Monday were Mrs. Andrew Trawick and daughter Susan of Point Pleasant, West Virginia. Mr. and Mrs. Billy Watson and son Donovan of Efland, N.C. and Mrs. David Miller of Fayetteville. Mrs. Duncan McCraney, Carolyn McCraney, Mrs. Jean Lisenby and son, Michael spent last Friday at Carolina and Kure Beach. Carolyn and Jean also attended the 17th annual Hollering Contest at Spivey's Corner Saturday where they saw "Little Jimmy" Dickens of the Grand Ole Opry, and Come dian Bobby McLamb. The S.N. McColl family held their annual reunion Sunday at the home of Mrs. Margaret Terry. Among the fifty who attended were Mr. and Mrs. James Crawford of Hendersonville, Mr. and Mrs. Clint Robertson of Swannanoa, Bob McCall of River dale, Maryland, Mr. and Mrs. Laurin McColl of Red Springs, Mrs. Effie Forbis of Lumber Bridge, Larry Wayne McColl of Tampa, Florida and Mr. and Mrs. Thomas McColl. Joni Parker, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. D.B. Parker of the Galatia community, will compete for the state crown. Miss Parker who is the current "Miss Fayet teville," will compete for "Miss North Carolina" in the pageant in Raleigh June 26-29. Hope you win Joni! Lee of Fayetteville recently visited Mrs. McCraney's brother, Archie Lee and family of Godwin. Her sisters, Mrs. Alton Baggett and family, Mrs. Esther Phillips and family and Mrs. James West of Durham were visitors at the same time. The class held the affair jointly with the Class of 1935 at the Sheraton Inn in Southern Pines. Thir teen members of the 1934 class attended the event.
