Vows are exchanged by Morris -Leggett Miss Malinda Grace Leggett was married to Captain Wilbert Lee Morris on Saturday, June 8, in Piney Grove Missionary Baptist Church. The Rev. Dr. Roosevelt Holmes and the Rev. Walter Em met McLeod officiated at the candlelight double ring ceremony at the 5 p.m. service. The bride is the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Lonnie Leggett of Raeford. She is a graduate of Hoke County High School and Fayetteville State University. The groom is the son of Mrs. Eutha Mae Morris of Raeford. Captain Morris graduated from Hoke County High School and Fayetteville State University. He is a captain in the U.S. Air Force and is stationed at Wright -Patterson Air Force Base, Dayton, Ohio. The sanctuary was decorated with pairs of sixteen branch candelabra, a kneeling bench, ferns and arrangements of summer flowers in tall wicker baskets on each side of the altar. Guest pews were marked with candles. Wedding music was presented by Russell McAllister, organist, uncle of the bride, Francis Leggett, guitarist, nephew of the bride, and June McAllister, soloist, cousin of the bride. He sang "More" and "We've Only Just Begun." Mary Leggett Thomas, cousin of the bride, and Hiwatha Howard sang "Endless Love" and "Jesus is Love." Hiwatha, soloist, sang "You and I." Leo McRae, soloist, sang "On the Wings of Love." Thelma McAllister, soloist, aunt of the bride, sang "The Lord's Prayer." The bride escorted* by her brother, James Leggett, wore an ivory taffeta gown with fitted bodice of lace and pearls, lace trimmed sleeves with matching gloves. Her full taffeta skirt ex tended into a cathedral train. Her lace trimmed veil cascaded from a wreath of flowers. The bride wore a string of pearls and matching earrings. She carried a bouquet of mixed spring flowers. Matron of honor was Carolyn Leggett Dockery of Raeford, sister of the bride. Maid of honor was Dolores Collier of Fayetteville. They wore pink taffeta gowns with fitted bodice of embroidery, pleated puffed sleeves, a tie sash and matching lace gloves. They wore raspberry babies' breath in their hair and carried a cascades of chrysanthemums with fern and babies' breath. Bridesmaids were Mary Holmes, Marilyn Cunningham, Shirley Leg gett, Shirley Hough, Tammie Holl ingsworth, Mamie Leggett, Regina Black, all of Raeford, Marian Denise Perry, of Raleigh, and Rene McAllister Benson of Nashville, Tennessee. They were dressed in raspberry gowns of the same style as the honor attendants. Junior bridesmaid was Kimbrell Yvette Leggett. Her gown was identical to the honor attendants. They each carried long-stemmed bouquets of chrysanthemums with fern and babies' breath. Keith Rountree of London, England was best man. Groomsmen were Freddie Leggett, Clayton Singletary, Melvin White, Norman Morris, Anthony Freeman, all of Raeford, Vann Rountree of Dayton, Ohio, Con rad Hollingsworth of Culpepper, Virginia, Maurice Morris of Elizabeth, New Jersey, Kenny Morris of Raleigh. Junior Groomsman was Darcey Cunning ham. The men wore French gray tux edos by Pierre Cadin with tailcoats and matching gray cummerbunds and bow ties. The groom wore his military formal mess dress with a white boutonniere. Groomsmen wore raspberry boutonnieres. . The carpet bearers were Kendra Dockery and Tammy Leggett. They wore tuxedos identical to the groomsmen with pink cummer bunds and matching bow tie. Shamiah Holmes was the flower girl. Her gown was ivory with a wide lace sash. She wore raspberry babies' breath in her hair and car ried a basket of mixed spring flowes. Enrico Leggett was the ring bearer. He was dressed in a Mrs. Wilbert Lee Morris miniature version of the grooms men's clothing. The wedding directresses were Deloris McLeod and Sadie Wright. A reception followed the ceremony at the Hoke High School where Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Beatty were caterers. Refreshments featured fountain punch and a six tier wedding cake, compliments of Mrs. J. Freeman. It was decorated with pink raspberry roses. Assisting with the reception were Irish Pickett, Helen McLaurin, Delphine Holmes, Denise Ker shaw, Chris McLeod, Magaline Smith, Schandra McLeod, Vickie Blue, Towanda Leggett, all of Raeford, and Ellen Brown of Fayetteville. After their honeymoon to Virginia Beach, the couple will make their home in Dayton, Ohio. REHEARSAL DINNER On the evening before the wed ding, sisters of the bride enter tained the wedding party and 'out of-town guests at a rehearsal din ner at the bride's home in Raeford. Brower- Walls marry Catherine Walls became the bride of William Steven Brower in a 3 p.m. ceremony at Weymouth Center in Southern Pines on Sun day, June 2. Dr. Harold E. Hyde Jr. officiated at the double ring ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Jeanette Walls of Southern Pines. She has taught in the Hoke County School System for six years. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William O. Brower of Siler City. The bride was escorted to the altar by the father of the groom. Attending the bride as maid of honor was her sister, Marian Walls, of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Best man was Curtis Harris of Irvine, California. Pre-wedding and reception music was provided by Robert Murphy. PRE-NUPTIAL EVENTS On May 18 Mrs. William T. Shore and Mrs. Charles Strom menger hosted a luncheon at the Shore home. On May 20 a linen shower was given by Mrs. Clay Daughtridge. A luncheon honoring the bride was held at Mid Pines on Satur day, May 25. Hostesses were Mrs. William Cameron, Mrs. Will Johnson, Mrs. David Warren, all of Raeford, and Mrs. Emilio Pagan of Southern Pines. Monday, May 27, a cocktail par ty honoring the bride and groom was given by Mr. and Mrs. Larry W. Newsome and their daughters, Leisl and Lexi, at the Newsome home. On May 29, Mrs. James Gilbert hosted a recipe and kitchen shower at her home in Pinehurst. On Saturday, June 1, a cocktail and dinner party for family and out of town guests was hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence McN. Johnson, Colonel and Mrs. Graham Douglass and Mr. and Mrs. John T. Johnson at the Lawrence Johnson home. The couple will live in Califor nia.
