Mrs. James H. Norwood Wedding held June 1 5 for Norwood-Crumpler The First Presbyterian Church in Monroe was the scene of the wedding ceremony on Saturday, June 15, uniting Miss Kimberly Jo Crumpler and James Hinson Nor wood. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Paul Crumpler of Hasty Road, Marshville. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Wallace McLean of Raeford. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Liddell Norwood of Rolling Hills Drive, Monroe. Dr. Byrns Coleman, minister, professor at Wingate College, and special friend of the bridal couple, officiated at the 6 p.m. double-ring ceremony. The church was decorated with altar arrangements of alstro emeria, small gladiolus, buttons, snapdragons, and English ivy. Two spiraling brass candelabras flanked the altar. The bride's registry table held a small arrangement of sweetheart roses. Wyatt and Everett McBryde, godbrothers of the bride, presided at the register in the narthex of the church. Marvin Palmer, organist, presented a program of wedding music that included selections from Handel, Bach, Mozart, and Mendelssohn. Joah Metelli sang "Oh Love That Cast Out Fear," "Entreat Me Not to Leave Thee," and "The Prayer of St. Francis." Given in marriage by her parents, and escorted by her father, the bride wore an ivory gown of labique taffeta with a natural waist of pearl trimmed reembroidered French Alencon lace and leg-of-mutton sleeves. Her skirt fell into a schiffli em broidered chapel-length train. Attached to a bandeau of lace and seed pearls was a cathedral - length ivory English illusion veil, double tiered and edged with reem broidered lace. She carried a cascade of alstroemeria, lilies, and English ivy. Her only jewelry was a diamond pendant given her by her maternal grandmother. Miss Jo Coleman of Wingate was her maid of honor. She wore a suede rose taffeta gown with a schiffli embroidered bodice and elbow length cartridge-gathered sleeves. She carried a nosegay of ivory flower and English ivy. She wore baby's breath in her hair. Bridesmaids were Miss Jan Wilson of Marshville; Miss Teresa Simpson of Marshville; Ms. Don na Tice of Charlotte, sister of the groom; Mrs. Laura Norwood of Monroe, sister-in-law of the groom. They wore gowns and car ried flowers like those of the honor attendant. Russ-Anna Bolin of Bumsville, Minnesota, cousin of the bride, was flower girl. Her gown was ivory with a high lace collar and a yoke and sleeves of chiffonet. She carried a white basket with pink sweetheart roses and rose petals. Serving as the best man was the groom's father, Charles Liddell Norwood. Groomsmen were Wallace Crumpler and Joshua Crumpler of Marshville, brothers of the bride; Chuck Norwood and William Norwood of Monroe, brothers of the groom; Billy Bost of Monroe; Bradley Davis of MOnroe. All men wore ascot gray tuxedos full dress. The groom wore a white tie and vest and the groomsmen wore gray ties and vests. The ring bearer was Master Nathan Pugh of High Point. He was dressed like the groomsmen. After a wedding cruise through the Caribbean, the couple will make their home at Twinbrook in Monroe. The bride is a graduate of Ap palachian State University in Boone with a B.S. degree in elementary education. She is employed by the Anson County School System. The groom is a graduate of Wingate College with a degree in Business Administration. He is employed at Trim-South in Monroe. RECEPTION Mr. and Mrs. Jack Paul Crumpler, parents of the bride and Wallace and Joshua Crumpler, brothers of the bride, entertained with a reception on the back lawn of their home immediately follow ing the wedding. Guests were invited to food centers decorated with vases and baskets of sweetheart roses, alstroemeria, gladiolus, and other fresh flowers. Steamboat rounds of roast with rolls and spreads, garden vegetables with dips, fresh fruits with fondues, assorted cheeses with crackers, sausage and cheese stuffed mushrooms, nuts, mints, champagne and punch were served the guests by waiters and waitresses dressed in dusty pink and white. After the bride and groom cut the traditional first slice of wed ding cake and the appropriate champagne toasts were given, the couple danced their first dance. Music was provided by Act III.
