^^\J(LaaXaj Laura McLeod and Elizabeth Up church McLeod, Upchurch making Sept. debut The Terpsifchorean Club has an nounced that Laura Benton McLeod and Elizabeth Allen Up church will make debuts in September. The young women will be invited to festivities during the next two months and will be for mally presented at the North Carolina Debutante Ball in Raleigh during the weekend of September 5, 6, and 7. Miss McLeod is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Benton McLeod of 509 Main Street. Her grand parents are Mr. and Mrs. J.B. McLeod and Mr. and Mrs. Her man Patterson, all of Raeford. She is a graduate of Flora Macdonald Academy of Red Springs and she is a student at Peace College in Raleigh. Miss Upchurch is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis M. Up church Jr. of 807 N. Main Street. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Mary S. Upchurch and the late Lewis M. Upchurch of Raeford and the late Mr. and Mrs. Sam Daniel of Oxford. She is a graduate of Hoke County High School and is a student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Retirement party heldforMinshew On June 29 a party was given to honor Sgt. D.L. Minshew on his retirement from the State Highway Patrol. Hosts were Mrs. Jean Min shew, Mrs. Debbie Bullard, and Tony Minshew. Friends and relatives were in vited to a pig pickin' dinner and the dance which followed. Decora tions in the Hoke Civic Center in cluded a basket of summer flowers from the garden of Mrs. H.L. Gatlin. A special surprise for the honoree was a cake shaped and decorated like a Highway Patrol car. The cake was used on Sgt. Minshew's table. Sgt. Minshew has been with the N.C. Highway Patrol for thirty two years. A special guest at his party was Col. Jack Cardwell from Patrol Headquarters in Raleigh. The honoree received gifts from the guests. He received a diamond ring from his wife. Sandra A. Ross Marriage is planned Mr. and Mrs. Henry Lay ton Ross of Elizabethtown announce the engagement of their daughter, Sandra Aniese Ross of Raeford, to John Patrick Kelly of Clarkton. The prospective bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Thurman Kel ly of Clarkton. The bride-elect is employed by the Hoke County Agricultural Ex tension Service as 4-H Agent. The wedding is planned for August 4 at Wesley's Chapel Methodist Church of Eliza bethtown. Mrs. Fulk honored ot birthday fete A July 4th birthday celebration honored Mrs. Viola Fulk. The buf fet dinner was held in the home of her daughter Connie Ellis. She received an orchid corsage, a gift from Raymond Johnson of Atlanta, Georgia, as she arrived. Guests, in addition to Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Ellis' family, were Waylon and Jimmie Fulk of Fayet teville, Venetia and Archie Walters and their families and Roland. Mrs. Fulk's bother, Millard Sparks of Atlanta, Georgia, was a special guest. After the meal, Mrs. Fulk received gifts from her family. Wedding held July 5 On July 5, Miss Arthea McGee was married to Mr. Bobby Ray Jones. The wedding ceremony took place in Dillon, South Carolina at 8:30 in the evening. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lacy McGee of Raeford. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Jones of Shannon. The bride was attended by Flora Lowry of Shannon, her maid of honor. Henry Woods of Raeford was best man. On Saturday, July 6, at 5:00 the bride and groom hosted a wedding reception in the home of the groom. In Weeks To Come MUSIC BOOSTER - Hoke Co.
