Graham-Carpenter hold Troy wedding Miss Anita Carpenter became the bride of James Earl Graham on June 29. The wedding was held at St. Stephens Church of Troy. Bishop Wallace Shields officiated. The bride is the daughter of Jethro and Sarah Carpenter of Troy. She graduated from West Montgomery High School and she is now attending North Carolina Central University. The groom is a graduate of Hoke County High School. He at tended North Carolina A&T. He is employed by D&L Appliance. He is the son of Alma Ree Graham of Raeford. Paul Thompson, organist, and Eric Carpenter, soloist, provided wedding music. Other musicians were Regina Brown, Robert E. Jackson, Gladys Garris, and Geraldine Ratcliff. Selections in cluded "You and I," "The Closer I Get," "God Bless Our Hearts," and "The Lord's Prayer." The bride was given in marriage by her father. She wore a long gown of white satin and organza. The neckline was encircled with ruffles. The bodice was trimmed with lace. The long sleeves were sheer and appliqued with lace. Her veil fell from a cap of satin trim med with pearls. Priscilla Carpenter, sister of the bride, was maid of honor. Her gown was of rose satin with a long sash tied in a bow. She wore a pink lace hat and carried pink and white carnations. Bridesmaids were Vickie Wilson of High Point, Regina Brown, Covidious Home, Vanessa Carpenter, and Cecilia Bar ringer of Troy, Dephine McGill and Tawanna Graham of Raeford, and Mary Moore of Biscoe. They were dressed in short pink satin dresses. They wore baby's breath in their hair and carried long-stemmed car nations. Tommy Graham of Raeford was best man. Ushers were David Graham, Vincent Flowers, and Michael McGill of Raeford, Ron nie Carpenter of Greensboro, James Knight of New Jersey, Tim Shields of Winston-Salem, Ronald Thomas of Hartsville, S.C. and Terry Jones. Flower girl was Brandy Jones. Vendel McGill was ringbearer. Leroy Hodge of Bronx, N.Y. was junior usher. Sheniqua Hodge of Bronz, N.Y. was junior bridesmaid. A reception in the church fellowship hall followed the ceremony. The groom's mother, Alma Graham, hosted a rehearsal dinner on June 28 at St. Stephens. After a wedding trip to Virginia, the couple will live in Greensboro. Mrs. James E. Graham Bridal showers held for Jackson On Monday July 8, Miss Becky Jackson, bride-elect of Donnie Smith, was honoree at a floating shower hosted by Mrs. Vickie Butler and Mrs. Mary Ganus in the Butler home. The honoree received a corsage of pink carnations when she arrived. Friends dropped in between 7 and 9 p.m. and showered Miss Jackson with many gifts. < Refreshments were cake, nuts, potato chips, and pink lemonade. M iss Becky Jackson was honored on Tuesday night July 9, with a floating bridal shower at the home of Mrs. Lib Webb, Route 2, Raeford. Miss Jackson was presented a corsage of pink silk roses. Thirty five friends and relatives called between the hours of 7 and 9. The refreshment table was centered with an arrangement of pink and white silk roses. The guests served themselves to finger sandwiches, wedding cookieSvMiis and mints. Miss Tina Woodcox served punch. Miss Dayne Bundy displayed the many nice gifts after Miss Jackson opened them. Out of town guests were Mrs. Lexie Jackson, Mrs. Terrie Jackson and Miss Samatha Jackson of Fayetteville, Mrs. Judy Jackson and Miss Linsey Jackson of Hope Mills. Hostesses were Mrs. Lib Webb and Mrs. Pat Woodcox. Personals W.O.W Lodge 6179 had a cookout at the home of Fleeta Maxwell on Tuesday" evening, July 9. Hamburgers, cake and homemade ice cream were enjoyed by the nineteen members present. Mary Ruth Haire, president of the Lodge, was remembered with a gift in honor of her having been elected as a National Delegate. Becky Jackson and Donald Smith Marriage announced Mr. and Mrs. Luther Patrick Jackson announce the engagement of their daughter, Becky Lynn, to Donald Ray Smith. Mr. Smith is the son of Mrs. Rena Marie Green of Raeford and Mr. Donald Eugene Smith of Port Neches, Texas. The wedding is planned for July 20 in the First Baptist Church of Raeford. Kimberly Ann Barnes To be married Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Calloway '( announce the engagement of their daughter, Kimberly Ann Barnes, to Ronald H. Kearns of Durham, North Carolina. Kimberly is a graduate of Hoke County High School. She is employed with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Durham. Ronald, the son of Mr. and Mrs. V.M. Kearns, is a graduate of Nor thern Durham High School. He is 4 employed with the American Tobacco Company also of Durham. Ronald is a volunteer fireman and an Emergency Medical Technician with Lebanon Volunteer Fire Department. A September 7 wedding is plan ned at First Baptist Church, Raeford, North Carolina. Mr. and Mrs. George Samuels announce the birth of a daughter on July 2 in Moore Memorial Hospital. Mr. and Mrs. David Gene Cur rie announce the birth of a daughter, Jessica Leigh, on July 4 ( in Moore Memorial Hospital. The baby's grandparents are Mrs. Frances Currie of Raeford and Mr. and Mrs. Lonnie Laviner of Wagram.
