Presenting the book Hoke County children 's librarian Betsy McNeill (left) accepts a copy of " Apples of Cold " in memory of Burd McLean from his daughter Sarah BaskervlUe. The book was given by Mrs. Baskerville 's co workers in the Vance County School System. 4-H Horse Club holds Parents' night event By Karyl Fahrenbrock The 4-H Horse Club decided to elect new officers for 1985-86 at the next meeting, and discussed Parent' Night scheduled for Fri day, July 12 at 6:30 p.m., during a July 9 monthly meeting. On July 1 1 and 12 Karyl Fahren bruck represented the club at the horse judging contest at the State Fairgrounds in Raleigh. Tammy Ellis, club advisor, ac companied Karyle to Raleigh. It was the first judging contest for Karyl; even though she did not place it was a good experience, and she returns to Raeford with new knowledge to share with other members. Next year, it is hoped the team will be going to the contest. Friday July 12, the club had our Parents' Night. Each family brought their own hamburgers and hot dogs to barbeque, and the club provided the rest of the dinner. Even though there was a very small turnout it was a nice evening. Club members are still selling peanut brittle for SS a tub (the tubs are reusable). Anyone wanting peanut brittle should contact Sandra Ross at the Agricultural Extension Office (875-2162) or Tammy Ellis (875-2478) or a club member. The club plans to buy club t-shirts with the money. Anyone who is interested in joining the 4-H Horse Club just needs to come to the meetings. The group meets once a month on the second Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at the Agricultural Office. Dues are 25 cents. If you need more information, please call Sandra or Tammy at the numbers above. The next meeting is August 13, at 6:30 p.m. FOR SALE 1972 OUKMOBIL! Runs good, good condition.
