Man charged In assault case A Raeford man, Robert C. Cun ningham, of 1215 Stewart Street, was i chair rt from the Hoke Coun ty Jail Monday on $2,000 bond after being charged with hitting two men with a pistol. Statements from Michael Odell Glenn and Donald R. Glenn say they had just ordered food from Virgil's Drive-In Sunday night when they were approached by the 30-year-old Cunningham. Michael Glenn told sheriff s deputies that after he and his brother ordered their food, Cunn ingham approached them and pushed them out of his way. Words were exchanged and the man allegedly took out a pistol and started hitting him, Michael told deputies. , , Cunningham has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, reports say. Both men were taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, treated and released. A joint effort between the Hoke County Sheriffs Department and the Raeford City Police resulted in a Fayettville woman being charged with larceny. Frances Dickerson was charged with allegedly taking S69.97 in clothing from the local Cato s store, Raeford Police Chief Leonard Wiggins said. The alleged theft occurred last Saturday. Dickerson was allegedly seen leaving the store with some clothing, Wiggins said. Store managers apparently got the license plate number of the car the woman was driving and broad cast it on law enforcement radio frequencies. Hoke County Deputy Mack High found the car with Dickerson sitting in it just off Highway 401, according to a report. Upon searching the vehicle, High found the allegedly stolen merchandise, he said in the report. On August 1, Roy Brock reported to the Sheriffs Depart ment the apparent theft of a water pump on property owned by him. The pumphouse was broken in to, reports say. The value of the pump was plac ed at $174.93. Sandra Huggins reported to the Hoke County Sheriffs Depart ment two break-ins in three days. On July 26, Huggins reported three television sets, two color and one black and white, stolen from her house. The total loss in property for the first theft was reported $1,210. Again, on July 29, Huggins reported her house broken into. According to reports, the woman left her house at 6:30 a.m. and returned at 5 p.m. to find her front door kicked open. During the second break-in, ap parent thieves stole a clock, valued at $50, and a tiller from the woman's barn valued at $175, reports say. Raeford Police Chief Leonard Wiggins reported that a man's chainsaw was apparently stolen out of the back of his truck on July 24. Curtis Locklear's truck was parked on North Dickson Street near the site of the new county ball park when the saw was stolen, Wiggins said. The chainsaw was valued at $119.95, said the chief. On July 31, Burlington Mills reported their break room broken into. The door was kicked off the hinges, said Wiggins. A change machine in the room was broken into, he said. There has been no estimate of the amount of money taken, he said. About 50 watches and a display case were taken out of a Raeford store on August 2, according to the chief. A group of males walked into David's Food Store, on South Main Street, last Friday. When they left, the watches were gone, said Wiggins. One of the men in the group kept the store's clerk busy while the others apparently spirited away the watches, said Wiggins. The watches were valued at $225, he said.
