langholz-Wood marry on August 3 Miss Martha Lynne Wood was married to Steven John pmgholz |on August 3 in Boone. The Rev. 'Jim Russell officiated at the ceremony in the Perkinsville Bap tist Church. The bride is the daughter of Robert M. Wood of Raeford and Louise B. May of Raleigh. She is a graduate of Millbrook High School and she is now attending Appalachian State University. * The groom is the son of Doris E. 'Langholz of Boone. He is a graduate of Watauga High School and he is now a student at Ap palachian State University. Three brass candelabra were trimmed with fern, pink and white pom-poms and carnations. The candelabra arched above a bank of ferns and palms. Arrangements of red roses with pom-poms and car ) nations were used on the piano and on the organ. Organist Kathy Johnson, pianist Kandy West-Taylor, and vocalist Ken Springs provided wedding music. Miss Johnson also sang, performing "A Time of Joy" and "We've Only Just Begun" with Mr. Springs. He sang "Security." Escorted by her father, Robert >M. Wood, the bride wore a gown with lace overlay, short sleeves and a scalloped neckline. Her hat was covered with illusion. She carried a nosegay of pink and white roses. Honor attendant was Diana C. Brqwley of Charlotte. She wore a tea length gown of pink taffeta. She carried a chamberstick with a lighted candle decorated with roses, greenery and ribbons. Bridesmaids were Dorene Miller, Karen Cornette, and Naomi Joselson, all of Boone. They wore dresses like the honor attendant and carried lighted candles. Best man was Tim Danner of Concord. Ushers were Brian Wood, the bride's brother of Raeford, Jim Furman of Boone, and Allen McCurry of Charlotte. The men wore gray tuxedos with pale pink ties and cummerbunds. The bride's register was kept by Debbie Sessions. The bride's parents were hosts for a reception following the ceremony. Preparations for the party in the church fellowship hall were made by 'Miss Penny Hickman of Elkin. The bride's aunt Briggs Burnette of Raeford and Tense Eldridge of Dunn, cut the wedding cake. Pouring punch were Lib Wood of Raeford, the bride's aunt, and Alice Kiley of Fayetteville. The Olde Homestead Restaurant was the setting for a rehearsal din ner hosted by the groom's mother, Doris E. Langholz, on the evening before the wedding. After a wedding trip to Williamsburg and Virginia Beach, the couple will live in Boone. The tea at the Ramada Inn was given by the honorees' grandmothers. Mrs. Bennie McLeod, Mrs. C.L. Thomas Sr., and Mrs. Carson Davis Jr. were also among the guests. Mr. and Mrs. Hansel Pate and their son Robert of Silver Springs, Maryland visited Mr. and Mrs. J.D. Wilkes Jr. last week. Robert will be attending UNC-Chapel Hill this fall. Mrs. Harriette Mauney and Mrs. Jeanne Moses were hostesses for a drop-in at the Moses home in Seven Lake& on Monday. Guests were greeted by the hostesses and invited to have refreshments and enjoy the view. Mrs. Marguerite Norris and Mrs. Dot Harris helped the hostesses provide a warm welcome. Mr. and Mrs. Wilbert Byrd of McCall, S.C., Mrs. Elma Freeman of Hope Mills, Agnes Wilkes of Aberdeen and Mrs. Nan Baxley, her sons Dusty and Ryan of Pine Bluff visited Mrs. J.D. Wilkes dur ing the week-end Mr. and Mrs. George Freeman of Washington spent Friday nieht with his mother, Mrs. G.M. Freeman. Mr. and Mrs. Huey Long spent the weekend with his sisters, Mrs. A.J. Freeman and Mrs. G.M. Freeman. The Mclnnis Clan will hold its 58th Annual Reunion Sunday, August 18, at Dundarrach Presbyterian Church. The pro gram will begin at 12 o'clock and will be followed by a picnic lunch at 1 p.m. Friends and relatives are invited to come and bring a lunch and sweetened tea. The Jones- Williams family will have their fourth reunion in God win, N.C. on Saturday, August 24 from 12:00 until 6 p.m. The decendants of Virgil and Dianne McDermott Jones, Sarah Williams and Henry Clay Williams of Cumberland County are in vited. Stephanie Mosso, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Mosso celebrated her first birthday on August 5. She had a pool party and picnic at the home of her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. William Mosso of Rockfish. Special guests at the party were maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Walters of Raeford, and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Redden of Abilene, Texas. The meeting was called to order by Circle Chairman, Mrs. Bobbie Gillis. After the business Mrs. Margaret Brutess presented the Bible study. After the meeting adjourned a delightful luncheon was served by the hostess, Mrs. Stanley Adcox and Mrs. Clarence Koonce. ??? Capt. and Mrs. Jimmy Turner and son, Chris who are stationed in Hawaii spent several days last week with Jimmy's mother, Mrs. Myrtle Sessoms. "Huck" Moore of Jacksonville, Florida visited Mr. and Mrs. Herman Koonce and other relatives here recently. Mrs. Moore is the former Gay Cameron, daughter of Fred Cameron and the late Ophelia Townsend Cameron of Carolina Beach. Mrs. Claudyne Brock who had back surgery recently has returned to work at her business on a part time basis. Bridal shower held On Saturday afternoon, August 10, Miss Tammy Barker was honored with a floating miscellaneous shower in the Evangelical Methodist Church fellowship building. Miss Barker was presented a cor sage of white daisies when she ar rived. Friends and relatives called between 2:00 and 4:00 p.m. The refreshment table was covered with a white lace cloth and an arrangement of pink and white roses. Refreshments were nuts, mints, iced cookies, and punch. Tammy Barker and Tommy Wright will be married on Satur day, August 24. Hostesses were Mrs. Lib Webb and Mrs. Norma Dooley.
