Effective insecticidal treatment
of soybeans requires (1) proper
timing, (2) correct insecticide type
and rate, and (3) satisfactory ap
plication. Timing is critical.
The scouting effort is designed
to identify if and when treatment is
necessary.
Once a treatable situation is en
countered an insecticide must be
applied within three days if cater
pillars are small to medium size;
high numbers of large caterpillars
should be treated immediately. It
would be wiser for soybean
farmers to respond to insect prob
lems very promptly.
This can only be done by early
detection of the problem and by
preventing insecticide application

2 tablespoons chutney
1 tablespoon minced chives
1 jar (5 oz.) pimiento cheese spread
8 ounces cream cheese, softened
1 cup (8 oz.) dairy sour cream
Cherry tomatoes, halved
1 can (6V4 oz) deviled ham
Trim crusts from bread and set
aside. Combine tuna, mayonnaise,
parsley and lemon peel and set
aside. Combine deviled ham,
chutney and chives and set aside.
Form large square with 4 bread
slices. Spread with tuna mixture.
Top with 4 more bread slices.
Spread with cheese spread. Top
with 4 bread slices. Spread with
deviled ham mixture. Top with re
maining 4 bread slices. Blend
cream cheese with sour cream.
Frost sides and top of sandwich
cake with cream cheese mixture.
Garnish with cherry tomatoes. Cut
cake in half and then cut each half
in 1-inch thick slices to serve.
Makes 8-10 servings. Sandwich
cake may be prepared in advance.
Cover with plastic wrap and chill
overnight if desired.
