Monday 5 p.m. <2a-<ijLail )QaaJla> Mrs. John Patrick Kelly Personals Mrs. Mary Ruth Haire and Mrs. Etta Barnes have returned from an extended trip in which they visited 22 states, friends in many loca tions, national natural wonders, a rodeo and e bluegrass festival. They spent a week in San Diego for the Woodmen Convention and ? they toured the home office of Woodmen of the World in Omaha, Nebraska. William Haire Sr., Mr. and Mrs. William Haire Jr. and a friend, Rocky Dove, of Woodbridge, Va., spent the weekend with William's mother, Mrs. Mary Ruth Haire. They came especially for the Calloway Reunion. Lide Family reunion held The family of the late Alexander Lide Sr. and Fannie Lide held their annual reunion on Saturday August 10 at 4 p.m. The family gathered at the Gib son Cafeteria at Hoke County High School. X Mrs. Evelyn Quick presided. The devotion was held and din ner was served. The reunion continued on Sun day, August 1 1 at Nazareth Baptist Church in Wagram, with morning service. Pastor Rev. S.C. Fairley presid ed. The guest speaker was Rev. James Lacy Lide Jr. The reunion was concluded with lunch in the church dining hall. FRIDAY, AUG. 30, 1986 11:00 a.m. til 6:00 p.m. Kelly-Ross marry Sandra Aniese Ross of Raeford, formerly of Elizabethtown, and John Patrick Kelly of CI ark ton, were married in a 3 p.m. ceremony at Wesley's Chapel United - Methodist Church in Elizabeth town on Sunday, August 4. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Layton Ross of Elizabethtown. The bridegroom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Thurman Kelly of Clarlcton. The Reverend Eckie Lancaster officiated the double-ring ceremony for which Mrs. Carolyn Scoggins, organist and Miss Violet Daniel, soloist presented a pro gram of Wedding music. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a formal gown designed and handmade by her mother and grandmother, Mrs. Eunice Holmes. The fitted bodice of satin and organza was re embroidered with gallon lace and seed pearls featuring mandarin neckline. The Tulle net yoke was hand embroidered with sprays of flowers and pearls. The set-in sleeves of tulle net were re embroidered with mathcing lace. They were puffed at the shoulders and taperd at the wrist. To the mock basque waist was attached a chapel length skirt of satin overlaid organza. The skirt front and bot tom edge were accented with the re-embroidered gallon lace and permanent pleated organza. She wore a chapel length veil edged with lace and pearls that was at tached to a band covered with lace from her mother's wedding dress, accented with organza and silk flowers. She carried a colonial bouquet of pink tipped white minuette roses, sprengeri fern, and baby's breath. Mrs. Ronald Williamson of Lake Waccamaw, college room mate of the bride was her matron of honor. She wore a long gown of teal taffeta styled with fitted bodice that was embroidered self fabric featuring square neckline, box pleated elbow length sleeves, worn off-shoulder and gathered skirt attached at natural waistline with a sash. Bridesmaids were Karen Denise Holmes of Greensboro, cousin of the bride; Tammy Gooden Jordan, Donna Sellars Smith, and Jennifer Ann Williams of Elizabethtown; Sharon Leigh, Vickie Lynn and Heather Maureen Kelly, sisters of the groom. The grooms father was best man. Ushers were James Michael Kelly of West Virginia and Thur man Joseph Kelly of Clarkton brothers of the groom; Henry Layton Ross Jr. of Elizabeth town brother of the bride; Larry Joe Revels, Larry Forrester Robbins and William Grant Town send of Elizabethtown; and Daniel Lee Williams of Lei and. Honorary attendance were Sherry Lynn Ward of Charlotte, Martha Lynn Anderson of Greensboro, Cynthia Ann Howell of Raleigh and Janice Marie Butler of Washington, D.C. The church was simply decorated with sprengeri ferns and two wooden handmade candela bras that have been used for wed dings in the brides family for Ave generations. The candelabra held 10 candles each and were encircled with summer garden flowers. The bride's mother wore a long dress of peach crepe de Chine. The groom's mother wore a long dress of orchid chiffon over taffeta. Both wore minuette rose corsages. The wedding was directed by Miss Fleta Harrelson of Elizabethtown. Miss Ann Town send handed out programs "* Following the ceremony the bride's parents hosted a reception in the church fellowship hall directed by Mrs. Louis Vaught, and Mrs. Annette Meares. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Jessup of Greenville greeted, registered and invited guests to enjoy refreshments serv ed from tables covered with old handmade clothes that were in the family. Mrs. Frank Williams and Mrs. Lloyd Hinson cut the wed ding cake that was topped with the bride and groom used on the brides' parents cake March 13, 1955, that had been re-done with a crochet frame handmade by the groom's mother. The groom is a graduate of Whiteville High School and is employed by Cape Craftsmen Inc. in Elizabethtown. The bride is a graduate of East Bladen High School and the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She is employed by the North Carolina Agricultural Extension Service in Hoke County. The Rev. Billy Beaver officiated for the 1 1 o'clock ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L.P. Jackson of Raeford. She is a Hoke County High graduate. The groom is the son of Mrs. Marie Green of Raeford and Donald Eugene Smith of Port Neches, Texas. He graduated from Hoke County High School and he attended Fayetteville Technical In stitute. He is employed by David's Food Store #3. Music for the wedding was pro vided by Mrs. Barbara Jackson of Raeford. Given in marraige by her father, the bride wore a gown of taffeta trimmed with lace made by her mother. It had a sweetheart neckline, a fitted waist, and long sleeves. There were pearl buttons at the neck and on the sleeves. Her veil of illusion was encircled with mediallion lace; pearls trimmed the headpiece. She carried a bouquet of pink roses, daises, and baby's breath. Miss Christina Noel Woodcox of Lumber Bridge was maid of honor. She wore a dress of pink taffeta overlaid with white dotted swiss. She carried a bouquet of pink carnations and white daisies. Best man was Johnny Elmer Dees, Jr. of Raeford. Keith Jackson, the bride's brother, was usher. Miss Lisa Lee, neice of the groom, was flower girl, Allen Woodcox was the ring bearer. The bride's parents entertained with a reception in the church fellowship hall. Mrs. Rita Lee, sister of the groom, poured punch. Mrs. Charlonea Stone, aunt of the bride, served cake. The bride's book was kept by Mrs. Dorothy McBryde, the bride's aunt. Others who helped with the reception were Mrs. Mary Ganus and Mrs. Pat Woodcox. The rehearsal dinner was given by the groom's mother, Mrs. Marie Green, at the Little Whale.
