Sections met on August 20 and
appointed new registrars and
judges of elections as required by
^statute 163.31 of the North
^Carolina Election Law.

Two decades
Brtnda J. Craycraft has com
pleted 20 years of unbroken ser
vice at the Raeford Plant of
Burlington Industries. She
began her employment with the
company as a Plndrafter
Tender. Craycraft presently
works in the Weave Department
as a Weaver. She was presented
a pearl pin, certificate and gift
by Plant Management.
Sandhills confers
16 nursing degrees
Sixteen graduating nurses receiv
ed their pins at the Practical Nurs
ing Education (PNE) Pinning
Ceremony at Sandhills Communi
ty College on August 16. Dr. Ray
mond A. Stone presided.
Following the invocation by
PNE Coordinator Sister Mary
John Yenc, Dr. Stone recognized
special guests. Next, those who
were to receive special awards were
recognized.
The Manor Care Award for
outstanding scholarship in the field
of geriatric care went to Cynthia
Purcell of Raeford.
The first Dr. and Mrs. H. David
Bruton Award for acknowledge
ment of kindness and concern for
patients went to Pamela Jeanne
Richter of Raeford.
The class recognized several
class members for special personal
characteristics. Most outspoken
was Edward Friedrich; wittiest,
LaRue Carol Foster; most
tenacious, Cynthia Puree 11; most
professional, Pamela Jeanne
Richter; most helpful, Mary
Elizabeth Hiles; most scholastic,
Debra Ann Wingeier.
One graduate, Edward R.
Friedrich, also completed a special
course to become introvenous cer
tified and was recognized for this
special achievement.
The graduating students then
recognized the extra effort of retir
ing librarian Rose Anderson for
her assistance to class members in
their studies. Next the class
presented roses to instructors
Frieda Bruton, Amelia Dennis and
Sister Mary John Yenc.
Each instructor then spoke to
the class about their futures, the
need to continue their learning, im
prove their clinical skills, and
fulfill their promise.
The ceremony conluded with the
16-member class reciting the
nurse's pledge in unison.
