As many Raeford and area residents may remember, last year a large crane towered over the building for quite some time, said Burl ington Public Relations Officer Harry Williamson. That crane was also installing an air conditioning unit, said Williamson. These units are very large, about the size of "several residential houses," said Williamson. But, the newest unit had to be placed in the middle of the building and a crane could not be used for fe?\r it might fall over with the weight of the materials, he said. A helicopter had to be used. The industrial chopper was used to ferry materials from the ground, where they were left after being shipped in by truck, said Williamson. With the aid of a ground crew and another specialized crew on the roof, the "penthouse" or large air conditioning unit was pieced together on the roof, said the relations officer.
