Mrs. James Ervin Galberth Galberth - Sinclair marry on August 24 Miss Anita Regina Sinclair, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Sinclair of Red Springs, and James Ervin Galberth, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Galberth of Raeford were married on August 24. The five o'clock ceremony was held in the Center Grove Missionary Bap tist Church. The Reverend T.M. ' McDonald officiated. The bride was escorted by her . father. Carolyn Williams of Red Springs attended her as matron of honor. Paula Denise McLean of Chapel Hill was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Annie C. Black and Teressa Thomas of Red Springs, Sonya Black of Charlotte, Beverly Farrow of Chapel Hill, Johnnie B. Galberth of Raeford and Linda B. Williams of Buffalo, r; New York. r5 Child attendants were Javonna McBryde and Reaco Williams. The groom's brother, Charles Galberth of Alexandria, Va., was best man. Gregory Love of Raeford was head usher. Other ushers were Roger Adams, James Buie, Maurice Hursh, and Larry Malloy of Raeford and Kermit McRae and Jeremye Simmons of Greensboro. Junior ushers were Marco Galberth and Christopher Sinclair. Russell McAllister provided wedding music. Gloria McBryde, Hubert Peterkin, and Sonya Black were vocalists. A reception was held in the Civic Center in Raeford after the wed ding. The bride is a graduate of Hoke County High School and is attend ing Fayetteville State University. She is also employed at Faberge. The groom is a graduate of Hoke County High School and Avery Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Georgia. He is a member of the National Guard. He is employed at McCain Correctional Center. The couple will live in Raeford. Dr. David Sut ton brought an excellent message also. His sermon topic was "God's Boundless Kingdom, God's Boundless Grace." *?* The Senior Citizens of Pittman Grove Baptist Church will meet Thursday September 12 at 11:00 a.m. After the meeting a covered dish luncheon and fellowship hour will be enjoyed. *#* The Brotherhood breakfast at Pittman Grove will be Sunday morning, September IS at 8 a.m. at the church. *?* Sunday evening, September 22 beginning at 6 p.m. there will be a gospel singing at Pittman Grove. Five singing groups will participate in the program. Everyone is invited to attend. Robert Wood was admitted to Cape Fear Valley Hospital Friday and underwent kidney surgery Monday. *** Milton Newton is a patient in the Veterans Administration Hospital in Durham. *?* Mrs. Lola Barefoot has been on the sick list recently. ??? Mrs. Anna Mack Gillis was hospitalized last week. *** Mrs. Catherine Wood is to have eye surgery Wednesday. * + * Louie Grajeda is hospitalized at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Fayetteville. *** Mrs. Mary Benkosky and Mrs. Lawrence Barnard attended the out-door drama, "Strike at the Wind" in Pembroke Friday even ing. Woodmen enjoy outing on Emerald Isle beach Woodmen of the World Na tional and State Officers from across North Carolina enjoyed a four-day outing at Emerald Isle last week. Members who attended from local Lodge 6179 were Presi dent Mary Ruth Haire who is also a National Delegate and Secretary Evelyn Ashbum who is a member of the Jurisdictional Fraternal Committee. A meeting was held Saturday afternoon with fifty-six officers in attendance. State president Charles Maxwell presided. East N.C. State Manager Harvey Bed sole and West N.C. State Manager Bob Payne both spoke to the group. After the meeting adjourned, the group enjoyed a delicious seafood dinner at Captain Bill's Seafood Restaurant in Morehead City. Catholic youth host teens On August 31 the youth of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church hosted an overnight experience with the youth of Our Lady of Guadelupe Catholic Church from Newton Grove. The evening began with a parish buffet /swimming party held at the Hoke Swimming Association Pool. After the poo! party the youth gathered at the parish house for videos and popcorn. The fellowship together culminated with a Youth Liturgy. The teens participated as lectors, altar servers, ushers and gift presenters, as well as signed (sign language) the communion song. The teens from Newton Grove were accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Hamp Giddons and Mr. and Mrs. Kir by Stevens. Mrs. Stevens is the former Carolyn Cabana of Raeford. Celebrating 50th Mr. and Mrs. George McCauley ( center ) celebrate 50th anniversary wish friends and family. \ 50th wedding anniversary celebrated by McCauleys A celebration at the Wagon Wheel Restaurant honored Mr. and Mrs. George McCauley on their 50th wedding anniversary. Elder Manley Purcell officiated as they renewed their wedding vows. The McCauleys live in Jamaica, New York. Their daughter, Mrs. Betty Rethea Purcell, and grand daughter, Malinee Leigh, both of Raeford, were hostesses. The decorations included white cloths, flowers and candlelight. The food highlight was decorated cake made by Rethea Long. The couple received gifts from the guests. Among them were a gold tray, gold rings and a gold necklace. Out-of-town guests were: Mr. and Mrs. Sylvester Everett of Jamaica, New York; Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Hogue of Cincinnati, Ohio; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hoover and their son Martie of Jamaica, N.Y.; Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Payne of Thomas ville; Miss Karen Hogue of* Denver, Col orado; Mrs. Dorothy McLean of New York; Mr. and Mrs. Thurman Murphy of Philadelphia, Pa.; and Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Laney of Jacksonville, Fla. There were also many guests from Raeford and Fayetteville. I.lxa Diane Caulder To be married Mr. and Mrs. John C. Caulder announce the engagement of their daughter, Lisa Diane, to Jeffrey R. Goodman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Carlos Goodman of Raeford. The wedding is planned for Saturday, October 12, at 3:00 p.m. at the Raeford Church of God. Lisa is a graduate of Hoke County High School and is employed by Hoke County Schools. Jeffery is employed by Parish Sign & Service Inc. of Raeford. Lisa Paulette Madden Engaged Mr. and Mrs. James L. Madden of Raeford announce the engage ment of their daughter, Lisa Paulette, to Bob Tanner Weaver, son of Mr. and Mrs. James R. Weaver of Raeford.
