Quarter century Kenneth W. Sessoms recently completed 25 years of unbroken service at the Raeford Plant of Burlington Industries. Mr. Sessoms began work with the local firm as a Sweeper In the Spinning Department. Since his employment he has worked as an Apron Cleaner, Serviceper son, Spinning Doffer, Techni cian, and Spinning Overhauler. He presently works in the Spin ning Department as a Shift Supervisor. In recognition of his loyal service, he was presented a diamond pin, 25 years certificate and gift by Plant Management. Malcolm Blue Festival gets underway Sept. 28 The 15th annual Malcolm Blue Historic Crafts and Skills Festival will be held on the grounds of the 1825 farmstead in Aberdeen on Saturday and Sunday, September 28 and 29. Traditional craftsmen will demonstrate their crafts and skills. The barns will be filled with farm animals and you can watch a cow being milked and a sheep be ing sheared. Fresh cornmeal is available from the farm's grist mill. Barbecue supper is available on Saturday, September 28 from 6 til 8 p.m. with square dancing begin ning after supper. The children can enjoy a pony ride. Refreshments are available and gate entrance is just one dollar Der person. Children under 12 are free. Day Care centers sought The Hoke County Department of Social Services is seeking in dividuals who are interested is establishing a family day care home. A family day care home can care for a minimum of five children. In order to be licensed by the State of North Carolina, an in dividual's home must pass safety, fire and sanitation inspections. The Day Care Specialist with the nffw of Day Care will work with individuals who are interested in providing care, to meet licensing requirements. The office of Day Care will establish amount of payment and the number of children which may be cared for in a family day care home. Interested individuals should contact Susan R. Letters to the President These employees of the Burlington Menswear Dyeing Plant and the Burlington Raeford Plant are in the pro cess of preparing over 7,000 letters to be sent to Presi dent Reagan. During the past two weeks, employees along with the help of their families, friends, and neighbors have been writing letters to increase the President's awareness of the problems foreign imports are causing the textile industry. Helping put stamps on the letters are from left: Sally Daniels, Martha Bullock, Dextor Bullard, Jeau Bronson, Lib Webb and Cornell Easterling. Hefner pushing textile bill Congressman Bill Hefner recent ly called textile imports "a severe national problem" at a press con ference sponsored by the Congres sional Textile Caucus. Hefner said, "The impact of im ports on U.S. textile and apparel jobs is only part of the picture. The nation as a whole should understand that the loss of this domestic industry cannot be self contained. Every American citizen will in turn be affected." In 1984, 46,000 textile and ap parel jobs were lost to imports, and so far in 1985, 66,000 jobs have been lost.
