Beginning Monday, September 30, the local Repair Service number will change for Carolina Telephone customers in the Fayet teville District, including the Fayetteville, Maxton, Raeford, Red Springs, St. Pauls and Parkton telephone exchanges. Beginning September 30, these customers will need to dial 1 -800-682-1034 to reach the com pany's local Repair Service instead of the present 61 1 at Fayetteville, 4 + 611 at Parkton, and 7 + 611 in the other locations. There is no charge for Repair Service calls. Bernice P. Barrett, Carolina Telephone's district commercial manager for the area, said, "The number change is necessary so that customers can have more efficient access to our local Repair Service when they need it. Flu shots offered Doctors and Clinics in Hoke County and throughout North Carolina will soon be administer ing a protective flu vaccine to thousands of "high risk" in dividuals - those 63 and over, and those any age with certain medical conditions. There are many persons in North Carolina in the high risk category who will be especially vulnerable to complications from a flu attack. Some of the medical conditions in the high risk group are chronic heart disease, bronchitis, tuber culosis, emphysema, kidney disease, diabetes and chronic anemia. The Health Department will of fer the flu shots beginning Sept. 23 on Mondays from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. and on Wednesday from 8 a.m. until 11 a.m. There will be a $3 charge for the shot. The shot will be given by the Health Department for approx imately six weeks or until the vac cine runs out. Health Department officials urge anyone needing a flu vaccine to come early because of the limited supply.
