Man draws 2 years for fight A 27-year-old Raeford man has been sent to prison for one year after being convicted of shoplift ing, fighting in public and using a deadly weapon during the fight. Michael Priest, also known as "Skulley," was convicted after testimony saying that he had been involved in a fight at The Brickhouse, a nightclub in Raeford. During the fight, Priest pulled a knife against Michael Murchison. Although Priest did not cut Murchison, he tried to, according to a warrant for his arrest. A warrant accusing the man of aggravated affray was drawn against Priest on August 16. Consolidated with the judge ment for the fighting and using a weapon charges was a citation given Priest on July 29, 1984 alleg ing that the man stole three packs of ham from Raeford's Food Lion Store, according to records. In other action, a Raeford man, Robert M. Graham, 19, was sentenced to 12 months in jail but received a suspended sentence and was placed on supervised proba tion for two years after being found guilty of 12 counts of writing bad checks, records show. Graham was convicted of writing three worthless checks to The Pantry in Raeford during the end of May and the beginning of June, two to Auto Parts of Laurin burg on August 17, one to the Buck Stop on August 19 and six to Southern Sales during the first eight days of August, records show. The man was ordered to pay $354 in restitution for the checks and over $400 in court costs for the 12 cases. A Red Springs man, James Locklear Bullard, was given a suspended sentence and fined after being convicted of switching price tags on items in the local Revco, records say. Testing will begin at 8:15 a.m. ed on August 17 and sentenced to 90 days in jail suspended for a $100 fine, say records. Clarence Bratcher, of Raeford, was convicted of trying to steal two beers from B&B Cash Mart on September 3, records say. The value of the beer was placed at $1.40, but Bratcher was fined $100 for the crime and placed on unsupervised probation for two years, according to records. Olanda Maurice Tillman, a 20-year-old Raeford man, was placed on supervised probation for a year and fined $200 after being convicted of not dimming his headlights for an oncoming car and driving while his license was revoked, records say. Tillman was arrested on July 17, records say. A Wagram man, James Edward McRae, was sentenced to two years on supervised probation, ordered to spend seven days in jail and fin ed $300 after being convicted of his second offense of driving while im paired (DW1) and lying to State Trooper J.K. Glidewell, records say. McRae was convicted of giving a false name and address to Glidewell during arrest, show records. The man was arrested and charged on July 14. Christopher Hunter Chase, 27, a Laurinburg resident, was sentenc ed to three years on unsupervised probation and fined $300 after be ing convicted of careless and reckless driving and driving while his license was revoked on September 12, records say. Fred Douglas McCormick, of Red Springs, was sentenced to two years on supervised probation and fined $300 after being convicted of his second offense of DWI. The man was arrested on August 24, records say. Another Laurinburg resident, Bobby Gerald Campbell was sentenced last week after a convic tion of his second offense of DWI. Campbell, 32, who was arrested on August 24, was sentenced to two years on supervised probation, seven days in jail and fined S300, according to records. Campbell was also convicted of possession of marijuana on the same date and fined SSO. Larry Dondale Miller, 26, of Raeford, was convicted of DWI on September 8 while consuming alcohol, records show. The man was sentenced to 90 days suspended for one year on un supervised probation and fined S100. Allen Melvin Thomas, of Raeford, was sentenced to 60 days suspended for a year on unsuper vised probation and fined $100 after being convicted of DWI on July 6, records say. Daniel Owen Batten, a 47-year old Thomasville resident, was sentenced to 60 days suspended for one year unsupervised probation and fined $100 after being con victed of DWI on May 4, accord ing to records. A Raeford woman, Marilyn McKeithan was convicted of writing two bad checks to Revco and Fast Shop on July 10, records say.
