Love-Purcell marry
Miss Lenbernita Purcell was
married to Henry G. Love on
Saturday, September 14, at four
o'clock. The wedding took place at
St. Mary Pentecostal Holy
Church. Bishop George McKoy of
ficiated.
The bride is the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs.- Robert L. Purcell of
Raeford. She graduated from
Sandhills Community College in
the LPN Nursing Class and she is
employed at Moore Memorial
Hospital in Pinehurst.
The groom is the son of Mr. and
Mrs. John Henry Love of
Raeford. He graduated from Hoke
County. High School and is
employed at Faberge in Raeford.
The bride was given in marriage
by her father, Robert L. Purcell.
She wore a piccione gown and hat
designed by Alfred Angelo of
Paris. The gown was white satin
accented with flora leaf and small
strings of pearls. The hat was also
accented with flora leaf and pearls.
She carried a bouquet of pink and
white carnations.
Deborah 1. Thomas of Southern
Pines was maid of honor. She wore
a pink satin tea length gown. In her
hair, she wore white babies'
breath. She carried a gladiola with
a pink ribbon.
Bridesmaids were Miss Chinita
Purcell of Raeford, Miss Alison
Purcell of Raeford, a sister of the
bride, Miss Priscilla Purcell of
Raeford and sister of the bride,
Daffney Kelly of Raeford. They
wore dusty rose satin tea length
gowns and white babies breath in
their hair. They carried a gladiola
with a dusty rose ribbon.
The groom wore a white tail tux
edo with a white bow tie and white
cummerbund.
The best man was Maurice
Hurst of Raeford. He wore a white
tail tuxedo with a pink bow tie and
pink cummerbund.
Ushers were Roger Adams of
Raeford, Fredrick Purcell of
Raeford, Ricky Morton of
Southern Pines and Dennis Purcell
of Raeford. They wore white tux
edos with dusty rose bow ties and
cummerbunds.
Flower girls were Lynn
Hargrove of Raeford and Tasha
Harris of Raeford. They wore
white satin dresses with white rib
bons in their hair. They carried a
white basket with a pink ribbon.
Ring bearer was Anthony
Thomas of Pinehurst N.C. He
wore a white tail tuxedo with a
white bow tie and cummerbund.
Music was played by Russell
McAllister of Raeford. The wed

dusty rose tea length gowns.
The church was decorated with a
brass arch candelabra. Flowers
were pink, dusty rose and white
carnations and ferns on brass
stands.
The reception was held at the
Raeford Civic Center.
Mr. and Mrs. John Henry
hosted a rehearsal dinner on
September 6 at their restaurant the
Corner Cafe.
After the wedding the couple
spent their honeymoon at Mrytle
Beach, South Carolina. They will
reside in Raeford.

nacle Baptist Church for Worship
Service Sunday morning. Rev.
Michael Osmont's sermon topic
was; "A Called Man".
The Jimmy Dees family was
honored during Sunday Morning
Worship service at Tabernacle
Baptist Church as it was his last
day as Associate Pastor. He has
been called as Pastor of Clement
Baptist Church near Autryville. He
was presented a plaque and a love
offering. Mrs. Dees was presented
a gift by the W.M.U.
Following the worship service, a
dinner was enjoyed in the
Fellowship Hall of the church.
Jimmy served well and he and
his family will certainly be missed
at Tabernacle Baptist Church.

gins of the Antioch - Red Springs
area who died Saturday September
28. Funeral was Sunday at 1:30
p.m. at the First Baptist Church in
Red Springs. Interement was in the
Alloway Cemetery. She is survived
by Luther M. Huggins, Jr. of
Raleigh, James C. Huggins of Red
Springs, Jack Huggins of Ander
son, South Carolina and Margaret
Brock of Morganton. She is also
an Aunt to Lawrence Barnard.

The Rockfish Extention
Homemakers Club met Tuesday
September 24th at 9:30 a.m. in the
home of Mrs. Anne Sessoms. A
new member was received into the
club and there was also one visitor.
Mrs. Mary Benkosky presented a
program on the use of accessories
in a wardrobe. After the meeting
adjourned a luncheon was served
and a social hour was enjoyed.

their way home after spending a
week in Nashville, Tennesee.

Shannon wedding held for McAllister-McRae
On September 28, Sheila Marie
McRae was married to Donald Lee
McAllister. The Rev. Thurman
McGougan officiated at the three
o'clock ceremony in Bridge Grove
Church of Shannon.
Mr. and Mrs. Luther McRae are
parents of the bride. Miss McRae
is a graduate of Hoke County High
School and of North Carolina
A&T State University. She is
employed by the U.S. Air Force as
a Registered Nurse.
The groom is the son of Mrs.
Arizona Sanders of Fayetteville.
He graduated from E.E. Smith
High School and attended N.C.
A&T University. He is now a
senior at Morris College and a
member of Alpha Phi Fraternity.* ...

entwined with greenery and yellow
and white carnations was used in
the church. Two white wicker
baskets held arrangements of
yellow and white carnations, aster
mia lilies, daisies, and babies'
breath. Ferns and palms were also
used.
Pam McDonald, organist, and
Vivian Parker and Michael Ross,
soloists, were the wedding musi
cians. Musical selections included
"Suddenly,*' "The Lord's
Prayer," and "The Closer I Get to
You."
The bride was escorted by her
brother-in-law, John McLean of
Greensboro and given in marriage
by her parents. She wore a gown of
polysilk organza and satin. It
featured a Queen Anne neckline, a
natural waist, and bishop sleeves
trimmed with lace. Lace encircled
the train and her waltz-length veil
that fell from a Juliet cap. She car
ried a nosegay of button mums,
daisies, astermia lilies and a lift
out orchid.
Carolyn McRae, sister of the
bride of Newark, New Jersey, was
maid of honor. Matron of honor
was Brenda McLean, sister of the
bride, of Greensboro. They wore
tea-length dresses of buttercup
yellow. The taffeta dresses had
hiah necklines and full ?Virt?. They
wore halos of daises in their hair
and carried two large mums tied
with love knots and yellow
streamers.
The mother of the bride wore a
lilac crepe dress. The groom's
mother wore an ivory crepe dress.
Both wore yellow carnation cor
sages.
Bridesmaids were Callie Vernell
Graham of Raeford, Angela Paige
of Biloxi, Mississippi, Tawanna
Dixon of Shannon, and Charlotte
Galloway, sister of the groom, of
Fayetteville. They were dressed
like the honor attendants.
Joseph McAllister of Vermont
was best man. Groomsmen were
Jonathan Charleston of Chapel
Hill; r'Terrance Franlcltn of
Greensboro, Henry O' Bryan of
Columbia, S.C., Terry McLaurin
of Greensboro, and Rufus
Washington of Columbia, S.C.
Ushers were Emanuel Taylor of
Sumter, S.C. and Ricky Graham
of Shannon.
The men wore black Pierre Car
din tuxedos with yellow cummer
bunds and bow ties. Their bouton
nieres were yellow carnations.
Hoke Civic Center was the set
ting for a party for members of the
wedding party and wedding guests
after the wedding.
Mrs. Arlevia McRae, mother of
the bride, hosted a rehearsal dinner
on the evening before the wedding
in the Bridge Grove Church
fellowship hall. The bride and
groom presented gifts to members
of the wedding party.
The couple plans to make their
home in Sumter, S.C.
On September 5 the bride was
honored with a surprise shower at
the Shaw Air Force Base Officers'
Club. The table was covered with
white lace and held arrangements
of silk flowers and candles.
The fifteen guests were served
cake, nuts, mints, punch and dain
ty sandwiches.
The honoree received gifts from
the guests.
