Feline Peritonitis takes toll on cats Feline Infectious * Peritonitis (FIP) is a fatal disease of cats. Although rarer than Feline leukemia, FIP has been seen in domestic cats in nearly every area of the world. It is caused by corona virus. This disease represents a serious threat to cats between the age of six months to two years of age. Research has shown an increas ed incidence in older cats also. FIP lesions are caused by the virus invading certain tissues resulting in a tremendous inflam mation. This inflammation releases fibrinous fluid into the chest or ab domen. There are two types of FIP. The wet form is the most com mon while the dry is less common ly seen. The type of disease is determin ed by the amount of proteinaceous fluid released within the chest and abdomen. Stale Fair trip The Recreation Department is offering a trip to the State Fair for Senior Citizens on Mon day, October 21. To get in with no charge, an ID must be presented at the Fair's gate, verify ing your age as 65 or older. All others must pay a $3 admission charge. Everyone must pay a $5 transportation fee to the Recreation Office prior to October 18(12 noon) to secure a seat on the bus. The trip will be limited to the first 46 PAID individuals who register. Competition will begin at 5:30 p.m. on the big field adjacent to the old National Guard Armory. The top four contestants (those who've accumulated the most wins by 6:30) will be paired for a championship match. Winners will continue to play at a stake until they are beaten. A game consists of 1 1 points. Scoring is as follows: I point - closest shoe to stake 1 point - if each player has a ringer, then the next closest shoe, if within 6 inches of stake 2 points ? two shoes closer than opponent's shoes 3 points - two ringers against opponent's one 4 points - one ringer A closest shoe of same player A leaning shoe has no value over one touching the stake.
