DEADLINES: Weddings A Engagements, Thursday 5 p.m. Other Social Items, Monday 5 p.m. Weaver-Madden wed Miss Lisa Paulette Madden became the bride of Bob Tanner Weaver on October 26 at 3 p.m. The double ring ceremony was per formed by Rev. Rodney Barwick at Pittman Grove Baptist Church. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James L. Madden of Raeford. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Weaver of Raeford. Wedding music was provided by Ms. Janice Benner, pianist, and Mrs. Pam Presley, vocalist. Mrs. Presley sang "Annie's Song," "You Needed Me," "The Lord's Prayer," and "The Wedding Song." The church was decorated with ferns and palms. The prayer bench was flanked by two floral wicker wedding baskets containing white mums, daisies, frezia, status and fugi. Reserved pews for the family were marked with an arrangement of white daisies, frezia, babies' breath, astermia lillies and spiraea. An arrangement of astermia lillies and babies' breath adorned an an tique table belonging to the bride's mother, which held the guest register. Mrs. Lynn Padrick, friend of the bride, kept the bride's book. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a long white satin gown of French design. It featured a square neckline trimmed with se quins and antique lace. Sequins ac cented the peplum waist and pouf sleeves. The bodice was trimmed with shiny and antique lace. The full crinoline skirt ended in a sweep train and bustle back. Her veil was embroidered fingertip length with lettuce leaf bows and streamers at tached to a wreath of pearls and flowers. She carried a cascading bouquet of white roses, status, frezia, babies' breath, spiraea trimmed with white satin ribbon and love knot streamers. Miss Leslie Madden, sister of the bride, of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, served as maid of honor. She wore a long gown of fuschsia taffeta with a shirred, tucked bodice and cameo lace insert, styled with a scoop neck, basque waist, puff sleeves worn off the shoulder and full gathered skirt. She carried a A.A. MEETING Thursday evenings 8 p.m. Open Arms Rest Home Dining Hall Campus Ave. nosegay of white buttons, babies' breath, mini carnations, pink astermia lillies and frezia. Bridesmaids were Lynne Mad den, Raeford; Selina Sanchez, Raeford; Tanya Byers, Spring Lake; Angie Weaver, Marietta, Georgia; and Sharon Harden, Raeford. They wore gowns iden tical to the maid of honor and car ried similar nosegays. The best man was James Robert Weaver, father of the bridegroom. Ushers were Mark Madden, Steve Conoly, Gerry Wood, Mark Weaver and Jim Weaver. The flower girls were Kyleigh, Summer and Ashwynn Stanger of Raeford. They wore pink tea length dresses with basque waists and pouf sleeves. They carried nosegays of pink mini carnations and white lillies trimmed with love knot streamers. The mother of the bride wore a Chinese melon textured silk dress fashioned with pleats throughout the bodice and skirt. She wore a white rose corsage. The bridegroom's mother wore a blue and pink silk flowered dress with a ribbon stitched bodice and satin sash accented waist. She also wore a white rose corsage. After a wedding trip to Hilton Head, S.C., the couple will live in Atlanta, Georgia. The bride is a 1984 graduate of Hoke High School and will be at tending college in Atlanta, Georgia. She is employed by CSL of Atlanta, Georgia. The bridegroom is a 1983 graduate of Hoke High School and attends Devry Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Georgia. He is employed by Honda Proline in Atlanta, Georgia. RECEPTION Immediately following the wed ding a reception was given by the bride's parents in the church fellowship hall. The tables were covered with white lace trimmed linens. Heirloom pewter candelabras from Otto Goebel, the bride's grandfather, were beautifully decorated with pink tapers, pink astermia, white but tons, lilly of the valley, star flower. A table with antique Belgium linen held the cake which had an arrange ment similar to ones in the candelabras. The cake was made by Mrs. Bet ty Freeman and served by Mrs. Mary Jones. The punch was served by Mrs. Shirley Boahn and Miss Leslie Foster. Attending the buffet tables were Mrs. Judy Propst, Mrs. Ilona McDaniels, Miss Rita McDuffie and Mrs. Pam Presley. Mrs. Carol Barwick directed the wedding procession. Miss Lori Boahn and Miss Dana Batton served as tea girls. POST-REHEARSAL DINNER The rehearsal dinner was held on To My Many Friends, Words cannot express to you just how much I appreciate your many deeds of kindness shown to me during my illness. Raeford JWC honored The Raeford Junior Woman's Club was awarded a silver tray and a certificate for its work in Public Affairs in 1984-1983. The First Place honor was presented at the October 24 District Nine meeting of the North Carolina Federation of Woman's Clubs. The Club was also named to the roll of North Carolina Honor Clubs for its work of the past year. Mrs. Ken Booker and Mrs. Larry Lippard represented the club at the Raeford meeting and ac cepted its award and certificates. McPhaul reunion held The McPhaul Clan held its an nual reunion at Antioch Presbyterian Church on Sunday. Family members attended wor ship, ate from a bounteous covered-dish meal, and gathered in the s&nctuary for a memorial ser vice and a business meeting. Scottish bagpipers and dancers performed for the assembly. The Scotland High School students had been invited by Fred and Sherry Baldwin Fox of Laurinburg, co chairmen of the reunion. Jack McPhaul and his grand children of Southern Pines led the memorial service. Mrs. Ruth McEachern, representing Millprong Preserva tion, Inc., accepted a gift of $475 from the McPhaul Clan. The Millprong property is very close to the McPhaul Mill area where the Clan's ancestors settled in the eigh teenth century. Personals Mr. and Mrs. Charles Gordon of Springfield, Pa. visited here last week with her sister, Mrs. Roger Dixon, and Mr. Dixon. Mrs. Gor don is the former Ruth Luper. Mary Shaw McDiarmid Mon tague, a Hoke County native, has returned to her home in Spring field, Pa. after a two-week visit here with friends and relatives. Leon Gatlin and his daughter, Suzanna, of Charlotte visited his mother, Mrs. H.L. Gatlin, and Mr. Gatlin last week on her birth day. Births Mr. and Mrs. Al Warwick of Pensacola, Florida announce the birth of a daughter, Laura Chris tian, on October 12. The grand parents are Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hord of Raeford. Mr. and Mrs. Marilyn McPhat ter McKeithan announce the birth of a son, Lelo Lamont Pratt, on October 21 in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
