Bucks look for win Friday night, the Hoke High Bucks have a chance to end their season on a winning note by upsetting Lee County in San ford. The Bucks, who are 1-8 for the season, dropped a close game Friday to Lumberton 6-14 in the last home appearance of the season. "We had chances to win the ballgame," Coach Tom Jones said, noting that the Bucks might have been flat emotional ly after playing well against Richmond County the week before. "The course of our season is weighing on us mentally as well as physically," Jones said. Friday will be the last high school football game for many of the Bucks' senior players^ and Jones is hoping the team will be eager for a win against Lee County. The Bucks have been playing with injuries and several key players have been knocked out after being hurt this season. Injuries have taken out two starting offensive linemen on the team and also took its toll on running back Terrell Carpenter. "It's not an excuse. It's a fact. Injuries have hurt us," Jones said. Lee County is 4-5 for the season. "If we play like we did against Richmond County, we can beat them," Jones said. "Winning is still within our range of capability," the coach said.
