Local representatives These sixth graders from J. W. Turlington represented Hoke County this past Sunday In Winston-Salem at the annual N.C. Music Educator's Conference . The students were selected by Phoebe Tucker to be a part of the State Elemen tary Honors Chorus which was under the direction of Dr. Hilary Apfelstadt from U.N.C.C. The chorus was made up of approximately 120 sixth grade students from eight counties in the southern part of the state. The students are from top left to right, Glenda Mitchell, Andrea Smith, Keisha Williams, Montr ell Melvin, Loria Glen, Grey Johnson, Ervin Kershaw, Leah Fairley, Jeff Baker, Stephen Simpson, Reggie Baldwin, Travis McLaughlin, Ahdrea Lupo, April Mosko, Jennifer Lindsay, Lisa Simpson, and Shanta Tillman. McNeill of Rural Route 3, Raeford, has been assigned to Brooks Air Force Base, Texas, after completing Air Force basic training. During the six weeks at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas, the airman studied the Air Force mission, organization and customs and received special instruction in human relations. In addition, airmen who com plete basic training earn credits toward an associate degree in ap plied science through the Com munity College of the Air Force. The airman will now receive specialized instruction in the medical services field. He is a 1980 graduate of Hoke County High School. Newly cut (green) wood may contain up to 50% moisture.
