Nov. 30 AUCTION -- An auction will be held to benefit the Church of God of Prophecy on Saturday, Nov. 30. Among the items auctioned will be a black angus cow, stereos, appliances, furniture and others. The auction begins at 10:30 a.m. at the church on Highway 211 west of Raeford. Dec. 2 POST HOMECOMING SHOW ? The Student Government Association of Fayetteville State University presents its Post Homecoming Show featuring Atlantic Starr and Fresh Air on Dec. 2 at 8 p.m. in the Seabrook Auditorium. The service will begin at 7:30 p.m. I Dec. 5-8 CHRISTMAS AT WEYMOUTH -- Members of 15 garden clubs are joining to "deck the halls" of a handsome Georgian manor house in Southern Pines for the fifth annual "Christmas at Weymouth" to be held Dec. 5 thru 8. Following a special open house for residents of Moore Coun ty on Thursday evening, Dec. 5, the entire decorated Weymouth Center complex will be opened to visitors for a fee of 52 for adults. Children will be admitted free. The house will be open on Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. Dec. 7-8 OLD WILMINGTON BY CANDLELIGHT -- The Lower Cape Fear Historical Society an nounces with pleasure the 12th annual Old Wilmington by Candlelight Tour. The Hoke County 4-H Program will offer a Hunter Safety Certification Course, Dec. 7 and 14 from 8:30 a.m. -12:30 p.m. in the auditorium at Upchurch School. The joyous days are here again as Christmas descends upon the historic Tryon Palace Restoration Complex in New Bern. The seventh annual Christmas Celebration will take place Dec. 7-22 and the season promises the most lavish yuletide ever at North Carolina's colonial capitol and governor's mansion. LIGHTING OF TREE AND "MUSICALE" -- The date, time and place for the Lighting of the Tree and "Musicale" festivities has been set for Sunday, Dec. 8 4 p.m., in Cross Creek Park in downtown Fayetteville. Apple cider and homemade baked goods will be on^sale by the Fayetteville Cumberland County Youth Council with proceeds going to their various community projects. Ad mission to the park is free. It is recommended that you bring your own lawn chairs and arrive early to guarantee your stake at the park. Dec. 10, 12 CANDY-COOKIE MAKING -- The 4-H program will offer a class on Homemade Candies and Cookies on Tuesday, Dec. l^and Thursday, Dec. 12, from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Classes are open to boys and girls ages 9-19. Participants will learn to make such candies as: chocolate covered cherries, peanut butter cups, mints, coconut balls, chocolate covered peanuts and pretzels, homemade suckers, as well as a variety of cookies. CITY COUNCIL -- The Raeford City Council meets the first Monday of each month at 7 p.m. in City Hall. The public is encouraged to attend. SCHOOL BOARD ? The Hoke County Board of Education meets the second Tuesday of each month at 7:30 p.m. at the board offices on Wooley Street. The public is encouraged to attend. AL ANON -- Meetings are held every Wednesday at 8 p.m. at the Library Conference Room. JAYCEES - Raeford Jaycees meet the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month over Howell's Drug Company on Main Street. Anyone interested is invited to attend. A. A. MEETING - The local Alcoholics Anonymous meets every Thursday evening at 8 p.m. at the Open Arms Rest Home. One does not have to be an alcoholic to attend. If you drink alcohol and want to stop drinking, AA may be of great assistance in helping you achieve that goal. All are welcome!!
