Club members are accepting donations, as well as ap plications for the gifts. An emphasis is being placed on clothes for children and older adults. Activities include a countywide religious service on Sunday night, a parade on Monday night, and a pageant portraying the history of the county. The Hoke County Board of County Commissioners originally appointed Sam C. Morris, Clyde Upchurch and John D. McAllister to the original anniversary com mittee. The rain held off until the lights were turned on and it was a joyful occasion. Ray Harris, director of music at the Raeford Presbyterian Church is to be congratulated on the fine job he did in leading the singing. He had formed a choir that after noon to lead the crowd in the sing ing and they all came through in flying colors. The groups that sponsored this event also should be thanked. It was a perfect way to start the Christmas season in Raeford and Hoke County. Next year it should be a better event because all the errors of this year can be corrected. ? * * Don't forget the Raeford Kiwanis Club annual Pancake Supper tonight (Thursday) at the Gibson Cafeteria. The police are moving around in the shopping areas, but they need your help to prevent your losing packages. It doesn't take long to secure your valuables.
