Woman gets suspended sentence for biting Hoke County deputy fc A Hoke County woman pleaded guilty to charges of biting a sheriff's department deputy last week. Sharon Graham, 21, of 1914 Autry Street, Raeford, was sentenced in Hoke County District Court to not less than 6 months and not more than 9 months, suspended for assaulting Deputy Clarence H. Patterson on October >3' According to reports, Patterson was attempting to stop a fight go ing on in a yard, when Graham bit him on the shoulder. Graham was ordered to pay the officer SI 50 in restitution, records say. In an unrelated case, Wanda Graham, Rt. 2, Scurlock, was found guilty of striking Ernestine I Watkins about the head and body " with a jack handle. Records say Graham, 21, struck Watkins on October 3. Graham was sentenced to 90 days suspended for a year on the condition she pay a $75 fine. Graham was also found guilty of striking Lacy McBryde about the head with a jack handle on the same day. * She received an additional ? sentence of 90 days suspended for 1 year and was fined $75. Wyatt G. Upchurch, Lewis Street, Raeford, was found not guilty of a simple assault charge. Court sources say Upchurch was found not guilty because deputies were unsuccessful at attempts to serve a subpoena on the plaintiff, Jerry Shaw, Rt. 5, Box 314-B1, Raeford. Paul Brady, 26, McCain Prison, pleaded guilty to a charge of simple assault. Records say that Brady struck fellow prisoner William Koonce on November 30 by pushing Koonce into a steel door. Brady was sentenced to 30 days to run concurrently with a sentence he is currently serving. William Koonce, 24, McCain Prison, was found guilty of inflict ing a serious injury upon Paul Brady by striking Brady with a food service tray and opening a wound on Brady's head requiring 6 stitches, records say. Koonce was sentenced to serve 30 days to run concurrently with a sentence he is serving. In another case, Kenneth Ray Locklear, Rt. 2, Box 426, Laurin burg, and Gene Allen Barnes, Rt. 2, Box 248C, Maxton, both plead ed guilty to charges of attempting to take doves from a vehicle on Oc tober 5, records say. They were fined $25 each, records indicate. Also, Robert Ross, 19, Rt. 3, Raeford, pleaded guilty to a non support charge, records say. Ross was sentenced to six months suspended for five years and ordered to pay child support payments, records indicate. Records also say that Ronald Bullard, Rt. 2, Lumberton pleaded guilty to a nonsupport charge. Bullard was sentenced to six months suspended for five years and ordered to pay child support payments, according to records. Court records show that Horace McKoy also pleaded guilty to a charge of nonsupport. McKoy was sentenced to six months suspended for five years and ordered to pay child support. Records say Aron Lee Holl ingsworth, 640 N. Bennett St., pleaded guilty to a charge of Driv ing While Impaired (DW1). Hollingsworth, 33, was sentenc ed to 60 days suspended for one year and was fined $100, 'records indicate. Records also indicate that Holl ingsworth must attend Alcohol and Drug Education Traffic School and perform 24 hours of community service. Venetcia C. Bratcher, Lot 17, Patterson Mobile Home Park, Raeford, pleaded guilty to two charges of passing worthless checks, court records say.
