GIRL SCOUTS - Be a part of the Hoke County Girl Scouts and be "In Step With the Future."
This is the theme of the Pines of Carolina Girl Scout Council. If you are between the ages of five to
17, then you can join others your age to make the trip through Girl Scouting. Troops are forming

OLDER WORKER JOBS - Older Individuals (55 and over) who wish to apply for chore worker
training and private sector OJT jobs through the Job Training Partnership Act (JTPA) program
should go to the Hoke County Employment Security Commission office located at 127 Elwood
Avenue in Raeford. Jobs for older individuals will be available within the next few weeks. Ap
plicants should bring their social security card, birth certificate or drivers license, and a statement
of family earnings for the last six months when they apply.

THEY'RE PLAYING OUR SONG ? The Fayetteville Little Theatre announces a second set of
auditions for their upcoming production of the Neil Simon musical "They're Playing Our Song"

A LITTLE MUSEUM MUSIC -- In celebration of music as one of the creative arts, the Fayet
teville Museum of Art presents the first in its concert series, "A Little Museum Music." A
Christmas concert will be presented by local soprano Sharon McNair. Ms. McNair is a choral in
structor at E.E. Smith High School and highly acclaimed soprano who has performed throughout
the area. Admission is free and open to the general public. Help us celebrate our late night hours by

CHRISTMAS PROGRAM -- The East Freedom Masonic Lodge No. 328 in Raeford will host a
Christmas program for widows of deceased members on Saturday, Dec. 21 at 6:30 p.m. at the
Rockfish Grove Freewill Baptist Chruch. Rev. James Kelly, pastor of Buffalo Springs Baptist
Church of Raeford, will be the guest speaker. Refreshments will be served. The program is open to
the public.
KIDS' CHRISTMAS CAPER -- Saturday, Dec. 21 from 1-3 p.m., the Fayetteville Museum of Art
and Parks and Recreation Department will host a Christmas party for the children of Cumberland
County. Ornament making and Christmas crafts will be on hand from 1-2 p.m., with a magic show
following at 2 p.m. (Magician Dick Snaveley courtesy of Fleischman's Tiny Town). Admission for
all children under 13 and their parents will be a heart full of Christmas cheer and good will.

CHRISTMAS CONCERT -- The Gospel Choir of McCormick Chapel Baptist Church, located in
Red Springs, (Duffie area) will have an annual Christmas Concert and Program, Dec. 22 at 4:30

HOLIDAY HOURS FOR MUSEUM - The Fayetteville Museum of Art will be closed Dec. 24, 25
and 26. The Museum will be open Monday, December 23, as an exception to our usual hours. The
museum is open to the public free of charge from 10 a.m. -5 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday and Fri
day; from 10 a.m. -8 p.m. on Thursday; from 10 a.m. -4 p.m. on Saturday; from 1-5 p.m. on Sun
day; and is closed Mondays and holidays.
