A committee announced programs at six locations—Upchurch, Raeford Elementary, McLauchlin, West Hoke, South Hoke and Rockfish. “We don’t have the money or people to equip even one park, let alone six,” said W.K. Morgan, recreation director. “If we don’t get the help from them, then we will have our basic recreation pro gram of softball, boys’ baseball and such like we’ve had before.” A community Easter service sponsored by the Raeford Minis terial Association will be held at 6 a.m. Sunday at Highland Biblical Gardens. The Rev. Allan Smyth will be guest speaker. bridges Hollingsworth clears the bar to break the Hoke High School record twice in one week. The organization says the suit follows Hoke’s “snail pace” reaction to complaints. Columnist Sam Morris writes “we can’t remember ever seeing the number of cars that were parked” at Arabia Golf Course Saturday morning. “We were talking to Brown Hendrix later in the day and he stated that the County Manager Barry Reed quits his job to take a position in Person County. He leaves Hoke nearly four years after starting the job. He says, “I think the direction the boar wants to go is incompat ible with what I as a person and I as a county manager believe in. I think the board wants to vio late what a county-manager form of government is about.” He says the budget should be developed by the manager and presented to the board, not with prior constraints as the board is enacting. Plus, Reed isn’t happy commission chairman L.E. Seventy-five residents of the Thomasville and College Drive areas fill the City Council cham bers and complain of plans to annex them. “You really don’t have anything to offer us,” one residents tells the board.
