This is neces sary on wet soils, but on fairly well- drained upland and sandy soils we are convinced that level and fre quent shallow cultivation, as was in dicated for corn, is the best and most economical method to follow in growing cotton. Ridge culture may give better results in very wet years, but, taking the seasons as they come, the advantage will lie, we think, with flat culture. Fertilizers for Cotton.—The pre liminary remarks regarding fertll- izers for corn also apply to cotton, the following formulas being offered* tentatively and as the result of our best judgment, after carefully study ing the results on different soils of the State: Fertilization and Cultivation of Com and Cotton Certificates of Deposit.
