Joyce, more familiarly I known as "Tank' and who was I about 75 years' old, committed sui-: clde at his home near Sandy Ridge ; Monday morning by shooting him-j self through the head 'with a pis-j tol. Mr. Joyce had been in declin- ! ing health tor some time and thl ' j Is suposed to have caused him to become despondent. He is survived by a widow and several children. Probably the severest storm that has visited this section for a long while, passed South of this place Thursday evening, though the wind was pretty strong here. At Billy Williams' three of his chimnevs were blown down, while the roof of his house was badly damaged, and his loss is estimated to be at lea' one thousand dollars. A little fur ther on the storm played havoc with Ilolman' "Stewart's orchard, uproot ing several apple trees. At the home of Jim Tisdale on the Price place lightning struck a chimney and Mrs. Tisdale was badly shocked. Dr. R. C. Matheson's peach or chard was robbed one night recent ly. He went out to his farm to harvest the delicious fruit and found that others hail preceded him and took everything in sight, stripping every tree of every vestige of fru't Not only that, but the thieves had broken into the house and purlolnd some sacks in which there were clover and grass seeds for the pur pose of carrying off the fruit. Mr. and Mrs. John M. Callaway have moved to Greensboro and are now occupying their handsome new residence irr- that place Which has recently been completed. Messen ger. A Great Remedy. The mertits of Chamberlain's Colic and Diarrhoea Remedy are well known and appreciated, but there is occasionally a man who had no acquaintance with them and should read the following by F. H. Dear, a hotel man at Dupuyer, Mont. "Four years 'ago. I used Chamberlain's Colic and Diarrhoea Remedy with such wonderful re suits that I have since recommend ed it to my friends." ' All druggists. "Why I Put Up With Rats For Years," Writes N.Windsor, Farmer "Years ago I bought some rat poison, which nearly killed our fine watch dog . It so scared us that we suffered a long time with rats until ray neighbor told me about RAT-SNAP. That's the sure rat killer and a safe one." Three, sizes, 25c , . 50c, $1.00.
