Since that time they have vainl. endeavored to promote both railroat and trolley lines as a means of get ting the way opened up to the out Bide world. Nothing could be don. and they lay low and waited. Sud denly, by the opening of the gradei road from Rutherfordton to Chimnc; Rock and on to Asheville, ,and th wide use of automobiles, the Chimnc; Rock route has become one of th most popular in the whole mountain gection.
