Atkinson, our enter prising wholesale merchant, has greatly improved his business house by having a gallery built therein. A few months ago Mr. Atkinson bought from Mr. F. D. •Meadows, the store building ad joining his on the east and has filled the new building with mer chandise. This gives them much room and they have a wholesale house that would be a credit to a town several times larger than Elkin. The second baseball game of the season was played in Elkin on last Saturday afternoon, be tween the local team and the team from Boonville. A large crowd was out to witness the game, which was a good one from start to finish. The final score was 2 to 9 in favor of iSlkin. In this connection we desire to state that the team should be given some support. The boys who played last Saturday had tomake up the money between them selves to pay for the balls used in the game. We think wjiose who witness the games should at least contribute enough to pay for the balls. NOTICE AS TO TOWN TAXES.
