Baptist Circles In Inspirational Meeting The monthly Inspirational meeting of the Woman's Missionary Society of the First Baptist Church was held in the church parlors Mon day afternoon, with a good attend ance. Mrs. T. G. Harris, president of the society, presided over the business meeting. An inspiring program was pre sented by the Lou Bray circle of the society, under the direction of Mrs. Roy Weßt, assisted by Miss Ella Cockerham, Mrs. R. L. Poindexter and Mrs. C. A. McNeill. The lesson for study was taken from a current issue of the Royal Service, Mrs. Jones Hostess to Thursday Book Club Mrs. W. E. Jones was a charming hostess on Thursday afternoon, when she entertained the members of the Thursday Book Club at her home on Church street. Following the usual business meeting and the exchange of club books, the mem bers hemmed linens for the Hugh Chatham Memorial hospital. A salad course, with coffee, fol lowing a sweet course, was served the following guests: Mesdames •Mason Liilard, W. R. Wellborn, W. N. Sherrill, Fred Colhard, George i Royall, Harry Barker, F. W. Mason Liilard Class Guests of Mrs. Allen The Mason Liilard Bible Class of the Methodist church met at the : home of Mrs. Marion Allen on Church street Monday evening, with Miss Bettie Allen as associate host ess. Mrs. Herbert Graham, president of the class, presided over the busi ness meeting during which plans were made for the year and the list of hostesses for the months were an nounced. An interesting program was pre sented by Mrs. Joe Bivins, assisted by Mesdames Fred Colhard, W. E. Jones and R. C. Freeman. The topic for study was excerpts from recent denominational magazines dealing with the prohibition question. At the conclusion of the program, a tempting refreshment course was served the twenty-five members present. Two new members, Miss Hazel Brown and Mrs. Roy Bell, were welcomed into the class. Mrs. Beeson Hostess to Wednesday Study Club Mrs. J. H. Beeson entertained the members of the Wednesday Study Club at her home on West Main street Wednesday afternoon. Mrs. Marion Allen was In charge of the program for the afternoon, using as her subject "Historical Churches in North Carolina." Mrs. John Akins told of the settlement of the Friend's church in North Carolina in an in troductory paper. Mrs. Fletcher Harris followed with a paper on "The Established Church". Mrs. Charles Armfleld told of the Bap tist Church, Mrs. Hugh Royall of the Presbyterian Church and Mrs. Fred Neaves concluded the program with a paper on the Moravian and Methodist churches. New olub books were distributed during the business meeting and 513.00 was collected to be appro priated to the night school fund. The club, together with many othen clubs of the town having pledged themnftlven to snpport this work. Refreshments were served to the following members: Mesdames John Akins, Fred Neaves, Hugh Royall, H. L. Johnson, Charles Armfleld, Charles Brewer. The topic for study was "Not Mine But Thine." The introductory paper "Twelve Things a Good Cit izen Should Do" was read by Mrs. W. E. Jones. Mrs. H. C. Hurt fol lowed with a reading, 'Call To Prayer." Readings, "Foreign Mis sions and the Missionary Thermom eter'" by Mesdames Lucy Cundiff and George Royal! concluded the program.
